Aki Shirahama

Aki Shirahama is currently Director of Engineering for TMD Technical Solutions. Aki has over 20 years of experience as an aerospace stress analysis engineer. Born in Japan, he started his career at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries working on stress analysis of the F-2 fighter composite wing, the Global Express Business Jet composite control surfaces and the 777-300 fuselage. Aki also oversaw structural component testing for the Bombardier Continental Business Jet, coordinating between the engineering department, test department and FAA delegates to assist with obtaining airplane certification. After leaving Mitsubishi in 2001, he completed his Master of Science Degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from University of Washington. After graduation, he joined Aviation Partners Boeing to perform stress analysis of Winglet retrofit modification projects. There he led the liaison stress analysis team and coordinated with DERs for modification approvals. Aki joined Global Aerosystems in 2009, which later became Kaman Engineering Services where he worked on several Boeing platform including 747-8 and 787 fuselages as a Senior Stress Analyst.

Bill Teman

Bill Teman is a Board member and Consultant at TMD Technical Solutions, LLC. He has over 25 years of diverse experience in the aerospace industry. Bill began his aerospace career with Boeing in 1988 as a Senior Design Engineer on the 737-300, -400 and -500 series of Boeing aircraft. He then joined the Boeing 777 program to support product development of the new 777 Passenger Entry Door and Small Cargo Door, then transferred to the Rule Based Design (RBD) group. Bill finished his Boeing direct career in 1999 as a member of the Balance Group within Boeing's Aero, Noise and Propulsion group. After leaving Boeing, Bill joined D3 Technologies as an Industry Assist (IA) Senior Design Engineer. In 2005, Bill was promoted to Executive Director of Engineering at D3, where he provided senior management oversight for up to 400 engineers across four offices until his departure in 2014. During this time he was instrumental in ensuring a smooth transition of over 150 D3 engineers from the Lockheed JSF F-35 program to new Boeing 747, 777 and 787 development programs. Prior to joining Boeing in 1988, Bill also served as a faculty member of the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of North Dakota (UND). At UND, he taught Mechanical Engineering classes, served as the ASME Faculty Advisor, and was a member of the Renewal Energy Institute. Prior to that, Bill worked as an Advanced Project Engineer for 3M, where he was placed in charge of overseeing the first Just-In-Time (JIT) Manufacturing project for 3M. Bill holds both a Bachelors and Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME/MSME) from the University of North Dakota (UND).

Helen Drummen is the President of TMD Technical Solutions. She has worked with several successful business startups. She is in charge of Business Operations. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Education, a Bachelor of Science in Computer systems and Software, and a Masters in Business Administration.

John Monroe

John Monroe retired in March 2003 as Director of 777 Program Management, a position he had held since September 1998. Monroe managed the program's planning and customer commitment processes, including production and delivery commitments. In this capacity, he was responsible for all aspects of business operations, program and project management within the 777 Program ensuring that all internal and external expectations and commitments were met. He was also active in many Working Together relationships with 777 customers. In his previous assignment, Monroe was deputy program manager of the 777-200X/-300X Programs, where he was responsible for integrating and coordinating the overall program plan for the 777X family of airplanes and managing all future 777 thrust-growth programs. Monroe was named to this position in June 1997. In 1995, Monroe was appointed 777 Program Management senior manager assigned to the 777-300 Program. He managed and integrated the requirements for that airplane model as it progressed through the development and production phases to become fully integrated into the broader 777 Program. Prior to this position, Monroe was Chief Engineer for 777 Engineering Technical Integration, Commitments and Compliance. Monroe joined Boeing in 1965 and progressed through a number of engineering assignments, including management positions in New Airplane Development, Product Development (7J7), Boeing Support Services and Boeing Commercial Airplane Group Customer Support. A graduate of the University of Puget Sound, he holds a Baccalaureate Degree in Business (focus on International Business and Finance). He also holds certification by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in their Engineering Management Certification Professional (EMCP) Program. Monroe served on the Board of Directors for the Economic Development Council of Snohomish County (EDC) from1999 until 2011. In 2011 EDC merged into Economic Alliance Snohomish County (EASC) and in August 2011 he accepted the opportunity to continue serving the community as Chief Operations Officer for the Alliance, a position he held until 2017. In addition, he chairs the General Advisory Board for the Everett (WA) Public Schools, STEM/CTE Program and is on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the Aerospace Futures Alliance of Washington, and the Advisory Board for the Washington State University North Puget Sound at Everett. Monroe and his wife Christy are lifelong residents of Everett, WA. They have one son, Jeff who also resides in Everett.

Peter Drummen

Peter Drummen is a former President at TMD Technical Solutions and serves on TMD's Executive Board. Mr. Drummen has worked in the Aerospace Industry his entire career, devoting much of his time to developing, designing and maintaining large commercial aircraft primary structures. During his 28 years of employment he has worked mostly on Boeing airplanes but has also spent considerable time at Bombardier, Heath Techna, and BE Aerospace. In 2006 as an original founder, Peter with 5 other partners created Global Aerosystems (GA), where he worked as Vice President of Engineering while also maintaining a presence on site at the Boeing Company. He was instrumental in developing the Engineering Services portion of GA by growing the business to 120 people serving Boeing in aerospace design and analysis engineering capacities. In this role at Boeing he managed the GA engineering team of 60 stress and design engineers on the 747-8 program on site at Boeing. During that same time Peter also worked as a subject matter expert (SME) and lead design engineer for the tail section of the 747-8 aircraft. Mr. Drummen just completed a Certificate of Project Management from Edmonds Community College with a 4.0 GPA and holds a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University.
