BAXTER ANIMAL HOSPITAL - Key Persons

Anne Huard

Job Titles:
  • Clinic Manager
I have loved animals all my life and spent a lot of time on my grandparent's farm. In high school, I had to decide between law and becoming a veterinarian and chose law. I graduated from Cambrian College as a Correctional Officer and somehow, I gravitated towards becoming an Animal Control Officer, which I thought was great since I would be working with dogs and cats to then becoming a pet groomer. It doesn't end there of course, from the pet groomer I was then given an opportunity the be a receptionist at a vet clinic to where I am now. I joined Baxter Animal Hospital in 1998 one year after the clinic opened. I would have to say the people interest me the most. I love to talk to clients about their pets and share stories with them whether it is pet related or not. What I love most about my job is that every day is different, from puppy and kitten appointments to sick patients to chatting with clients picking food for their pets. My favourite thing about the clinic is that I have a second place I call home. Fun fact about myself is that I love to read, especially books on vampires. I can be bribed with chocolate covered almonds. My first pet was a female calico cat name Minoune and my first dog was a beagle mix female and her name was Princess.

Job Titles:
  • Veterinary Technician
I've always loved animals but I originally started off in social work. After a few years of social work, I didn't feel it was the right fit for me. I happened to come across the veterinary technician program, I figured it might be more rewarding and a better fit for me. It's a decision that I will never regret. I went to school at College Boreal for veterinary technician. I graduated in 2017 from the Sudbury campus. Veterinary medicine is diverse and has many branches. So far dentistry and surgery are the aspects that interest me the most. Though every day is a new learning experience bringing new interests. I think the fact that I'm excited to come to work everyday speak volumes. I never know what each day will bring. The clients and their pets are phenomenal and I have grown attached to many of our loving furry friends. The staff is always happy to lend a helping hand and support each other during those busy days. In my off time, I enjoy going to music festivals, snowmobiling. I also do enjoy the simpler things in life. I love the outdoors and spending time by the campfire with family, friends and you can't forget my dog Sako.

Job Titles:
  • Receptionist
After leaving the industry for two years, I decided to join Baxter Animal Hospital. I had many dealings with the clinic both professionally and personally. I loved what they stood for, as well as the kindness and dedication of the staff. I have always had special interests in pet food, canine behaviour and pet/human interaction. I love the fact that I can combine all of my interests in one job by assisting and educating clients and just getting to know them. They are such great people! I love the ‘down home' family feel between all of the staff and the clients. I grew up with an assortment of pets. My first pet as an adult was also the only pet I've ever picked out of a litter. She was a beautiful tortoiseshell complete with "torti" attitude named Bandit. Loved her for it! Fun fact about me is that I made all the arrangements, preparations etc. to have my first home moved from one site to another.
