Dean Sherman has over 22 years' taxation experience in the corporate environment and SARS. He has experience in all types of taxation but specialises in corporate income tax including mining tax, mining royalties and structuring. He has been Head of Taxation at Lonmin for 4 years and Head of Taxation - Africa for Glencore / Xstrata for the past 7 years. His experience includes compliance in all taxation matters, advising on the bouquet of all taxes relating to transactions, including merger and acquisitions and black economic empowerment transactions, taxation accounting, cost and management accounting and modelling, government lobbying in relation to amendments and proposed taxes, due diligence on all taxation matters and international taxation planning. His extensive mining experience suitably equips him on all compliance and advisory matters relating to corporate and mining tax as well as mining royalties, valuations and structuring.
