LAKEVIEW ANIMAL CLINIC - Key Persons

Andrew Stas

Job Titles:
  • Owner, Partner Veterinarian
Dr. Stas, or Dr. Andy to avoid confusion with the elder Dr. Stas. He has been with the practice since 2014 but has literally grown up at the clinic and is rumored to have spent many days sleeping in the dog kennels as a toddler. Dr. Stas received his veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania, class of 2013. After completion of his degree, Dr. Stas completed a one year internship at the prestigious Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Ky. During his education, most of his interests focused around large animal medicine while supplementing his education with advanced small animal medical and surgical training. Dr. Stas is currently serving the local agricultural community as a large animal ambulatory veterinarian when he is not in the office seeing small animal patients. His large animal interests include food animal reproduction and herd health, as well as equine ambulatory services. He is closely involved with the agricultural community and greatly enjoys working with 4-H clubs and youth. While not on the road running farm calls, he can be found in the office seeing small animal patients. His small animal interests include internal medicine and veterinary dentistry. Dr. Stas is currently serving on the Westmoreland 4-H Livestock Committee, Westmoreland Fair Board of Directors, and the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association Board of Trustees as the equine representative. In his limited free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his lovely wife, Julia, sons, Barron and Thatcher, and dog, Jade. He also enjoys fishing and all that western PA outdoors has to offer.

Dr. Ronald Stas

Job Titles:
  • Owner, Partner Veterinarian
Dr. Ronald Stas needs no introduction and has been the pillar of Lakeview Animal Clinic for nearly 30 years. He has been a mainstay in the Latrobe community ever since purchasing the practice in 1987 and has become somewhat of a local celebrity. His compassion for animals spans generations and he continues to practice progressive and exceptional veterinary medicine. Dr. Stas earned his veterinary medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, class of 1985. Shortly after starting his veterinary career he purchased Lakeview Animal Clinic from the late, great Dr. A. Wayne Mountan in 1987. Dr. Stas picked up right where Dr. Mountan left off and has grown the practice into what it is today. His experience in veterinary medicine is unmatched and he continues to learn new techniques and modern standards of care on a daily basis. Dr. Stas is still practicing both medical and surgical veterinary medicine full-time as well as offering the much needed voice of experience and guidance within the practice. Outside of the office he enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as a multitude of outdoor activities, gardening, and tinkering around his farm. Throughout his career he has been involved in many local organizations and youth education programs and has served the Latrobe community and his local church for the past three decades.

Katie Slivko

Job Titles:
  • Associate
  • Veterinarian
As of January 2023, Dr. Slivko is our newest veterinarian but is no stranger to Lakeview Animal Clinic. Dr. Slivko was raised in Latrobe and graduated for Greater Latrobe High School. Following high school, she earned her bachelor's degree from St. Vincent College and went on to veterinary school at Ross University and completed her clinical year at The Ohio State University. During her time at St. Vincent, Dr. Slivko started shadowing at Lakeview. She quickly became and integral member of our team and was destined to become an exceptional veterinarian from the start. Over the proceeding years she worked at Lakeview during her summer breaks from school. During this time, she grew into the dedicated and brilliant veterinarian that she is today. Dr. Slivko enjoys all the diverse aspects of veterinary medicine but especially enjoys small animal surgery and large animal ambulatory medicine. We are fortunate that Dr. Slivko choose to return to our practice and will bring outstanding value to our practice. While not in the office or on the road, she enjoys spending time in the outdoors with her two south Atlantic island rescue dogs, "Indie" and "West".
