SPERITY REAL ESTATE VENTURES - Key Persons

Betsy Mangum

Job Titles:
  • Sales and Leasing Agent
Betsy Borders Mangum is excited to be back in the Greater Richmond region after spending a few years in Ellicott City, Maryland. Richmond is embedded in her heart since she met her husband here and all three of their boys were born at St. Mary's Hospital. The daughter of a retired Air Force major, she has lived in 7 different states and one European country and is relieved to finally be back in her forever home, closer to family and friends. An alumna of both James Madison University and VCU, Betsy began her career as a high school art teacher teaching in Frederick, MD, Charlotte, NC and New York City. While working on her Master's at VCU, she became an intern at the Greater Richmond Chamber. She enjoyed five years as the Coordinator of Member Services where her favorite event, Breakfast Break, connected small and mid-sized business owners. Leaving the Chamber, she jumped at the chance to work with a networking software program Ignite Speed Networking. She assisted the owner in leading facilitation for networking events involving Fortune 500, higher education, nonprofit and government agency clients. After ten years of employment and 2 additional children Betsy scaled back her career, returning to her roots in education. With school-aged sons she was happy to work as a preschool teacher as it allowed her to be home for her family. Living out-of-state has made her realize how fortunate it is to be a resident in the Greater Richmond area - creative thinkers can make things happen! Both she and her husband were drawn to Richmond because of the incredible sense of community. Businesses are being supported and are thriving. She is excited to explore both new and familiar places while helping Sperity clients.
