The Neighborhood aim is to provide a safe, secure, clean, and convenient one-stop center for those in need of assistance in the northeastern Kentucky region. Part of the mission's goal is to increase the employability and reduce the risk of homelessness for families in the region... The Neighborhood was formed in 2002 to ultimately provide a centralized facility where nonprofit agencies could serve the needs of low income individuals with basic assistance. In 2004, land and a building was purchased on Central Avenue in Ashland, KY and work began to determine how it could be refurbished to best serve the mission's objectives. By 2007, structural repairs and improvements were completed and the interior spaces for CAReS and River Cities Harvest were operational. In 2011, The Dressing Room's new space was completed.
