BARRY DILLON

  • Youth Development Worker
Our development worker supports a number of projects through community development principles. Working alongside a broad range of groups in the community, projects include a drop in service within the Oughterard youth cafe, youth interest and hobby groups and youth clubs, schools projects with both primary and secondary schools, a mens shed project, the president's award with Transition year students in St. Paul's Secondary school and more recently a forest school and outdoor group. The development worker supports a large number of volunteers within the community and participates in many other community events and activities.

BELINDA MULLEN

My role is to oversee the projects run through the development workers. I have responsibility of applying for grants to run our education courses. I am responsible for the supervision of staff and to ensure that we work within budgets. I also work with the Board of Management and we plan the running of the centre. I also set up appointments with the Counsellors/play therapy for clients and regularly meet with the Counsellors Part of my role is also to meet with clients if required. Overall like all the staff we are here for the community .

HELEN CRONNELLY

"Community development is a holistic approach grounded in principles of empowerment, humans rights, inclusion, social justice, self-determination and collective action" (Kenny 2007). Helen, our Community Development worker, supports groups within the community with these principles in mind. Clann Family Resource Centre has a cradle to the grave approach, meaning all members of the community are thought od and included in various projects and groups we assist. CRC supports older people as well as families and young people. We engage in numerous initiatives, working groups, events and activities within the community. Some of the groups Helen supports are Corrib Baby & Todler, Befriending Programme, Oughterard Seniors Citizens...
