Dr. Claudia Henschke

Dr. Claudia Henschke is a professor and doctor at the College since 1983. She has been in the Division Chief of Chest Imaging in Radiology. Highly valuing the importance of continuing the development of various research projects which she is involved, she is a vocal proponent of CT-scans for early lung cancer detection. She is the author of many research publications, including "Screening for Lung Cancer: Coping with Nihilistic recommendations."

Ruth Schmid

Dr. Schmid is Chief Business Developer at SINTEF Materials and Chemistry in Trondheim with special responsibility for the area of medical technology, including nanomedicine. Her present research activities include the preparation and characterisation of micro- and nanoparticles, as well as the surface modification of polymers and polymer particles for applications in nanomedicine and various other industrial segments. Dr. Schmid is a Swiss citizen living in Norway since 1979. She gained her Diploma (1975) and PhD (1979) in Natural Sciences (physical organic chemistry) at ETH Zürich, Switzerland. She is a member of ACS, CRS (member of the board of directors (2009- present), Secretary and member of the Executive Committee 2012-2013, Treasurer-Elect 2013-2014, Treasurer 2014-2015), the European Technology Platform in Nanomedicine, the COST Action TD1004 "Theranostics imaging and therapy: an action to develop novel nanosized systems for imaging-guided drug delivery" (MC member and Vice Chair, 2011 - present), the COST Action FA0904 "Eco-sustainable food packaging based on polymer nanomaterials" (MC member, 2011 - present) and the External Advisory Board of the ERA-Net EuroNanoMed (2008-2011) and EuroNanoMed II (2013-). Dr. Schmid is author/co-author of 39 scientific publications, 17 patents and patent applications, 60 oral/poster presentations and 13 webinar, mass media and popular science publications.

Xavier Ochoa

Xavier Ochoa has published numerous technical papers as well as having conducted many interview sessions in print and broadcast media. Xavier attributes his success to his ability to communicate effectively technical matters in layman terms to non technical audiences and executives. In 5 years he aspires to own his own business while expanding the global presence and market for Bio Thermal Solutions. "Upon completion of high school, I applied for through the Institute for International Education in New York City for a collegiate scholarship. I was granted a partial scholarship from the Encyclopaedia Britannica to study Mining Engineering at the University of Arizona in the United States. This grant was a first as it was the first time anyone wanting to study Mining Engineering was awarded this prestigious academic scholarship. Subsequently, during college, I was also granted scholarships from the Society for Mining and Exploration, Inc. and the Phelps Dodge Foundation which helped cover my college education. As an Engineering student at the University of Arizona I engaged in multiple activities. Among these activities were participating in the Local Chapter of the Society for Mining and Exploration Inc. as well as the Student Chapter at the University. In parallel I participated actively in the Geology Club. In order to have a recreational activity I was part of the Rugby Club playing in the junior varsity and eventually in the varsity teams for the school. With the Team I was able to travel domestically as well as touring in the British Isles and Ireland.
