J. Thomas Mellott

J. Thomas Mellott has practiced law for over 30 years. He concentrates his practice in all areas of juvenile delinquency and adult criminal defense. Tom also serves as a Guardian ad Litem in juvenile court, and practices in the areas of estate planning and probate law, business law and real estate transactions. Mr. Mellott earned a Bachelor of Arts in German (with Honors) and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Miami University in 1986. He graduated with his J.D. from the George Washington University, The National Law Center in 1989. For seven years, Tom served in the United States Air Force as a JAG officer, where he prosecuted military personnel and civilians before Courts Martial and in Federal District Courts and represented the United States in a variety of contract disputes before a variety of federal courts and boards. Tom has structured, negotiated and documented complex real estate and business transactions. He is experienced in complex estate planning and probate matters. Mr. Mellott is admitted to practice in Ohio, and is licensed to practice before the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and all state courts in Ohio. He is an active member of the Ohio Bar Association and the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Most mornings, you will find Tom in the Hamilton County Common Pleas and Juvenile Courts. He spends his free time reading, teaching Sunday School, volunteering and spending time with his family.
