David R. Cooper - CEO, President

Mr. David Cooper founded MSCI (formerly the Space Division of Dynacon) in early 2008. As General Manager of Dynacon's Space Division, Mr. Cooper shaped all aspects of the microsatellite and ACS product lines, including sales and marketing, program management, engineering management, contract management, financial management, production and product assurance. When Mr. Cooper acquired the Space Division of Dynacon, he also acquired its excellent heritage established over two decades, as well as a core of the finest microsatellite engineers anywhere. Drawing on over 25 years in aerospace management, and on an in-depth knowledge of business, Mr. Cooper's vision for MSCI includes building a preeminent microsatellite space company in North America that serves the military, civil and commercial sectors - a company where personal excellence and respect will lead to exceptional results. Prior to MSCI and Dynacon, Mr. Cooper joined Honeywell's Advanced Technology Centre as Director of Programs. Later, he joined Spar Aerospace in Brampton where he had the opportunity to enjoy a series of program and engineering management positions, from defining systems engineering requirements for the International Space Station, Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator (SPDM), to strategic development of Spar's long-term strategy for space robotics. Through Spar, Mr. Cooper was also seconded to the Canadian Space Agency under the Interchange Canada Program as the Director of International Marketing where he authored Canada's first International Marketing Plan in Space. Mr. Cooper graduated from Canada's Royal Military College with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree, and from Queen's University with a Master's in Business Administration. He served in the Canadian Forces through a wide range of engineering and air operations positions.

Dr. Pooya Sekhavat - CTO

Dr. Sekhavat has been working with MSCI in various management capacities and, since February 2016, has lead the entire technical team at MSCI and overseen the design, manufacturing, test, and delivery of all MSCI product lines (microsatellites, reaction wheels, rate measurement unit, etc.). Prior to MSCI, Dr. Sekhavat was involved in US DoD contracts conducting research on design and implementation of various optimal control algorithms on aerospace and robotic systems. He lead efforts in establishing new labs equipped with a variety of laboratory test-beds such as a CMG/Thruster actuated spacecraft attitude test-bed, magnetically-actuated attitude platform, unmanned aerial and ground vehicle systems, articulated robotic arms, as well as Motion Capture-based estimation and identification platforms for system identification. He was one of the co-founders of a small business in California, USA working with other universities and Government entities toward developing and implementing optimal control-based software/hardware architectures for guidance and control of nonlinear systems with operational constraints in real-time. Dr. Sekhavat's research interests include spacecraft attitude determination and control, real-time nonlinear/optimal control, trajectory optimization of aerospace and robotic systems, nonsmooth analysis, and nonlinear Kalman filter estimation and system identification. Dr. Sekhavat has produced more than 40 publications and has been awarded various awards and fellowships from NSERC in Canada and National Research Council in US (declined). He has authored and participated in several national and international conferences and seminars and has been a member of numerous professional organizations including AAS, AIAA, SIAM, ASME, IEEE, CASI and CSME. Dr. Sekhavat received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manitoba and is a member of PEO.

Janice Martin

Janice Martin has worked with MSCI since March 2009. In her role as Director Finance and Administration, Ms. Martin is responsible for all finance, accounting and administrative functions. Prior to joining MSCI, Ms. Martin held senior financial positions in a number of companies including an equipment manufacturer for the automotive industry, a major research and development organization and a major distributor of women's fashion. She also worked in public accounting/consulting providing a variety of financial services to manufacturing and other clients. Ms. Martin has over 25 years of experience in finance and holds a CPA, CMA designation.
