Alberti Strydom completed her teaching degree in both English and Accounting from the North West University (South Africa) in 2010.She was an English teacher for five years and Head of Performing Arts in Hartbeespoort High School in South Africa. Alberti loves drama and music and is keen to perform in community theater. She enjoys the arts, traveling and spending time with family. Alberti aspires to advance her studies in Education and teaching English as a second language.
Ambareesh is an Indian Finance professional, working in Al Yasat private School as a Finance and Accounts officer since two years. He is a chartered accountant certified from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) from India and also holding bachelor degree in commerce. He has more than 5 years in the field of finance and specialized in the field risk assessment. He is very passionate about learning and always keen to update the knowledge in International Financial reporting Standards (IFRS) standards. Ambareesh was previously working in a consulting firm based out of Dubai and recruited from the firm. Andrea hails from Colombia, South America, where she received her Bachelor´s Degree in Physical Education. She has volunteered in teaching sports to different ages from different nationalities prior her degree. In coming to the UAE Andrea wanted to know and learn more about the local culture. She has been teaching in the UAE for 2 years and is looking forward to joining Al Yasat. Andrea enjoys traveling and playing sports.
Mr. Andrew Petrucci is a qualified English and ESL teacher originally from Niagara Falls, Canada. Among his other titles are father, expat, travel blogger, and published poet. In addition to his passion for writing, he spends time roaming the globe, hiking, swimming and reading. Professionally, Mr. Andrew began his teaching career in London, England where he worked as substitute teacher, SEN teacher, and one-on-one tutor for students dismissed from mainstream schools. He has also spent time teaching ESL to adults in Toronto and worked as a classroom teacher in Kuwait.

Arifa Sultana completed her first Bachelor's degree in Science with a major in biology; then the passion for teaching led her to undertake a second Bachelor's degree in Education (B.Ed) from Karachi University. Since, then she has been teaching in various capacities and has teaching experience of more than 10 year in the UAE and in Pakistan. She has completed several short courses and workshops from organisations including ERDC, GEMS, ADEC and BERLITZ. Arifa has also been involved in leadership and administrative roles along with teaching throughout her career. Arifa enjoys teaching Maths and Science subjects to Grades 1 to 3 and has a comprehensive experience in understanding child's psychology and to adapt teaching techniques for better advancement in child's learning experience.
Ashgan Bendary is an Arabic teacher. She was born and grew up in Egypt. Ashgan graduated from Banha University and traveled to the UAE in 2006. She started teaching at the Private Castle School in 2007 for two years. After her contract was completed Asgan was offered a position at Al-Munira Private School. She is married and has two children. Her message in education is perseverance, building a well educated and creative generation that can face real life challenges. She has many interests including reading stories, listening to music and Arabic handwriting .

Asma Zafar has completed a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Computer Systems from NED University, Karachi, Pakistan earning a Gold medal. Asma started her career in programming in a leading software house in Pakistan reaching the level of Senior Applications Analyst. After her move to the UAE 17 years ago, she has raised family, volunteered in Mother-Toddler groups and schools and undertook newsletter editing for several years. She joined Al Yasat as a supply teacher first in 2008 and then designed and developed the library system and worked as a librarian and resources manager for two years. She did some more cover work in 2012 before taking up her current role of Administrator/ICT Facilitator. She has been extensively involved along with the Principal in collection, collation and analyses of all assessment data since then. This includes the production of all data and stakeholders' documents and has also been solely involved in the regular analysis of attendance data. Her responsibilities include communication with all staff and parents via email and SMS. She is currently working on SIMS, the school's management information system. Her personal interests include reading, travelling, horse riding and spending time with family and friends.
Originally from Durban, South Africa, Brendza has been living and teaching at a private school in Dubai for the past 6 years. She thoroughly enjoys the diverse culture and warm climate of the UAE; and tries to be as active as possible through cycling, diving and any other physical activity. She is well equipped with a wealth of experience from serving her country as a Visual Arts Specialist through planning and executing art exhibitions and working with students of all ages, from all walks of life. Her mantra for teaching is to provide guidance, counseling and discipline necessary to encourage students to exceed standards of achievement in a creative environment. Dina hails from Egypt and has lived in Abu Dhabi for the last 7 years. She is a holder of Kindergarten Faculty Bachelor degree from Alexandria University Egypt. She has worked as a kindergarten Arabic teacher for seven years at the Egyptian English Language School, Egypt. In 2003, she started working at Abu Dhabi at Castle Private School. Dina has been at Al Yasat Private School since August, 2013. During this period she has held the position of Arabic teacher for KG classes. She was engaged in workshops that are related to classroom management, learning using technology and advanced learning classroom structures, special Needs Education. She has advanced her career by applying the 21 century skills. In order to develop the students' spoken and written Arabic, Dina works closely with her team to ensure all planning is completed and submitted in a timely fashion. Dr. Asif's interest in the field of education began when he developed a passion for social justice as a high school student. His enthusiasm led to acquiring a Bachelor of Arts in History and Religious Studies, and subsequently a Master of Arts in Teaching. Upon graduating he pursued a career at the Harlem Children's Zone: Promise Academy Charter Schools under the leadership and guidance of Geoffrey Canada. The core focus being on ending generational poverty through creating a network of educational services that provided support from cradle to career. Over the course of his years working at the institution he held many roles Lead Teacher, Dean of Student, Assistant Principal, and Principal. His students and school consistently outperformed neighboring school districts. In an effort to deepen his experience and develop as an educator Dr. Asif relocated to the U.A.E. and served as a K-12 Vice Principal. Emelita earned a Bachelor of Science degree Major in Mathematics in the Philippines. She is a licensed teacher and had a teaching appointment from Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC). Before moving in to Al Yasat as an assistant teacher, Emelita was a full time teacher in a private school in Abu Dhabi for nine years. She is passionate, communicates easily with children, and a team player.
Gabrielle Sewell was born in Dallas,Tx (USA), where she spent most of her childhood. She attended Prairie View A&M University where she received her Bachelors of Science in Mathematics(2016) and received her Master in Educational Administration(2017). She taught middle school mathematics for three years in Houston,Tx. As an educator, She have developed a philosophy to provide quality and meaningful education to all of her students. Appropriate practice exercises and hands on activities should be developed to assist in their exploration of the world around them. Providing positive guidance and positive reinforcement will give light to pleasant learning experience. Parents should be engaged in their child's learning activities and form a team relationship to ensure a safe environment for their children. Hanan graduated from Ain Shams University in Cairo with BA in Arabic Literature. She worked in the Egypt Ministry of Education for 8 years teaching Arabic language, and then moved to the UAE to teach in private schools for about 9 years. She is delighted to join Al Yasat team this year. Hana is a social and open-minded person who likes to have friends from all over the world.

Harison Varghese is an Indian IT professional, supporting & administering the technology matters in Al Yasat Private School, since last two years. Hiba Mohamed Elmahdy received her BA from SUEZ Canal University in Egypt where she completed her Bachelor Degree in History Studies. Following this she accomplished two special Diploma; one in Teaching and the other in Education Technology. Hiba has a total of 14 years of experience in different Elementary and Middle schools for different classes. She has been teaching Arabic Social Studies in Al Yasat Private School since 2011. Huma has been in the teaching profession for the past 8 years. She received her Master's degree in Arts from ‘The Government College University', Lahore, Pakistan, with ‘Economics' as her major subject. She went on to teach at a local school for two and a half years as a Grade 3 Homeroom teacher. During her tenure there, Huma was also a subject teacher for a short period of time teaching ‘History' and ‘Geography' to Grades 5, 6 and 7. After moving to United Arab Emirates, initially, Huma worked at ‘Al- Shohub Private School' as a substitute teacher for a couple of months. Huma joined Al Yasat Private School in 2008, and has been associated with the school since then. She has taught Grade 1 and 2. Currently, Huma is part of Kindergarten section of the Primary School as a KG2 teacher. She has recently successfully completed her IPGCE (International Post Graduate Certificate in Education) from the University of Warwick, England, providing her with a certified teacher certificate. She writes oratorical and declamation pieces for students joining the Literary Speech fest across the school and outside, and does hosting job in every school program. Joanne embarked on her teaching career in 2002, teaching for a school as part of a Learnership Programme, whilst studying part time toward her Bachelor of Education degree. In so doing, Joanne cemented her passion and love for teaching. Being determined to excel in her studies, but not able to take on a heavier academic load while teaching full-time, Joanne enrolled to complete her degree on a full-time basis. During her third year at university, Joanne was selected by the Dean of the Education Faculty to participate in a Student Teacher Exchange Programme in Scotland. This experience had a great impact on Joanne and planted a seed to teach internationally. Joanne went on to graduate Cum Laude, in the top four of her class, specialising in Intermediate Phase teaching. After graduating, Joanne took up a Grade 5 teaching position at a primary school in her hometown of Port Elizabeth. She thoroughly enjoyed this position and viewed her colleagues as her extended family. Mrs. Katie Kastner is from the historic city of Charleston, South Carolina, in the United States. She loves to travel and has spent time in various countries across Africa, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. Mrs. Katie has experience teaching middle and high school students and is certified in the areas of English and Social Studies. She has earned a Master's degree in teaching, a Gifted and Talented endorsement, and a Montessori credential in her journey as a lifelong learner. A bibliophile, Mrs. Katie particularly loves the plays of William Shakespeare and the stories of Edgar Allan Poe. She is looking forward to sharing her love of grammar and literature with the students of Al Yasat.

Kellina Pillay is from Cape Town, South Africa. In 2016, she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's in Education from Nelson Mandela University. She has over four years of high school teaching experience. The main reason Kellina decided to become a teacher is to make a difference in the lives of the children and ultimately the future generation. After 5 years of working in the financial sector, she decided to follow her dream of becoming a teacher. Kevin came to Abu Dhabi in 2018 from Scotland where he studied a Post Graduate Diploma in Education with the University of Strathclyde. After graduating he spent a year teaching grade 3 in Holy Cross Primary School in Scotland. In the 2018-2019 Academic year Kevin was teaching grade 5 in Al Basma British School in Abu Dhabi. This is Kevin's second time in the UAE, from 2012-2016 Kevin taught in Sabis International School of Choueifat Al Ain for 4 years. During his time here, he specialized teaching English and Social Studies for Grades 2-6. In 2011, Kevin was awarded a Bachelor of Arts from the University College Cork, in Economics and Geography. As an art teacher her goal is to point out the hidden artistic essence in the subject of art and objects, most specially the ones that are not commonly thought of an artistic light. Mr. Lamon began his career as a science teacher in 2009 after completing a Bachelor's degree majoring in Physics and Biology with a minor in education. It was his goal to be a physics and science teacher when he entered the University of Technology, Jamaica and he discovered that it suited him very well and his advisors recommended he continued his pursuits. On graduation he applied for a position as an adjunct Physics Lecturer in his faculty and was successfully appointed. His first assignment after that one year with the university was teaching at an all-boy school for another year before moving to an all-girl school where he taught Physics for four years. He then left to teach at a private school - Hillel Academy- to become internationally trained and gain that international experience. He also lectured at the University of the West Indies, Mona during this time while pursuing a Master's degree in Medical Physics. He was a good physics student in college and quickly developed an ambition to pursue a gradu te degree in physics. He flirted with the idea of studying physics in the United States or Canada and then opted to consider his local university. Maha is a psychologist and school counsellor who has many years of experience both in the UAE and Syria. Throughout her career, she has worked with children, teenagers, youth and adults which have provided her with a broad perspective on the challenges faced across different age groups. Her experience also includes working with vulnerable communities including refugees and displaced people.
Maha graduated from Damascus University with a degree from the Faculty of Education. She further pursued her Masters in Educational Administration as well. Her interest lies in raising awareness about mental health and its impact on overall well-being and is keen on providing professional development sessions to staff to build awareness on dealing with important issues among students in the 21 st century.
In her free time, Maha enjoys spending time with family and swimming. She is also looking to pursue a second Masters in Clinical Psychology.

With an experience of 9 years as a science teacher and Principal's assistant with the UNITED NATIONS SCHOOLS, Manal has gained valuable knowledge and expertise in curriculum development and planning. Manal has a teaching diploma from the UN Education Department and was a lecturer of the undergraduate's science strand for new staff in the UN. Manal prepared remedial courses in science for different classes and provided targeted intervention for boys and girls across a number of UN Schools.

Mr. Mohamed Sayed Hassan is from Egypt. He studied Arabic and Islamic through the Faculty of Education at the Assut University in Egypt. He has 11 years' teaching experience in Arabic and Islamic Studies in the UAE. His first teaching experience was teaching elementary, middle and high school students in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. He joined the Al Yasat family in 2015 as an Arabic teacher.
Monique has always shown a passion for working with children and engaging in charitable causes which led her on her path to being an educator. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree specializing in Psychology and English from the University of South Africa and then went on to complete her PGCE in Foundation Phase. Monique worked with various children during her education in the fields of teaching, tutoring and au pairing and each experience served as a foundation on which she continues to build upon as her knowledge and experience expands. Her love for travel and exploring new cultures led her to the UAE in 2016 where she worked as a Grade 2 teacher at a Private school in Ajman, which provided her the opportunity to expand her skills of differentiation in a culture rich environment. Monique is a hard-working team player who aims to provide ample learning opportunities for children to experience in an enjoyable and meaningful way. Mr Qurbanul Haq (Senior Accountant) Qurbanul Haq has been the Senior Accountant at Al Yasat Private School since 2014. He hail from ‘The Land of the Tamils' - Tamil Nadu, the southern state of India, which take pride to be one of the most ancient languages and cultures of the world. As an enthusiast in accounting, Qurban completed his Masters in Commerce and started his career as accountant for various firms in India for before his shifted to UAE in 2009. He has vast experience having worked in a number of different positions and industries for over 14 years. Mrs. Reem Rekieh comes from Toronto, Ontario in Canada. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology specializing in Education from York University. After arriving to Abu Dhabi in 2007, she has been a part of the Al Yasat family since. She has taught all grades in elementary and has been the subject coordinator for Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship Education (PSHCE) as well as a department head for the Grade 1-3 sections. She has also served as an Assistant principal of Elementary for 3 years and is currently serving as the Vice Principal of the phase. Reem completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Education with the University of Warwick in England with distinction, as well as her Masters in Innovation in Education. Her thesis focused on the effectiveness of assessment for learning strategies on improving students' writing particularly in the UAE. This interest stems in part from her experiences over the years delving into reasons why students particularly struggle in the strand of writing, with the goal of discovering innovative ways to improve attainment of writing in the UAE social context. During her time in university she had the opportunity to specialise in the area of Special Education Needs, an area which has helped her to identify the learning targets and needs of many of her past and current students. She has been teaching in Abu Dhabi for three years now and her most recent post was at an ADEC school where she was the Year Lead for the Grade 4 classes. Rachael also taught at Belvedere British School where she was responsible for teaching Grade 2 for two years.
