Dr Luke Rankine

Dr Luke Rankine has a vast array of skills and expertise in both engineering and business. Luke attained a degree in Aerospace Avionics Engineering from the Queensland University of Technology graduating with first class honours in 2002. He was then offered a number of scholarships, including the prestigious Australia Postgraduate Award scholarship, to undertake a PhD in the field of functional analysis and signal processing. After completing his PhD in 2006, Luke took up a postdoctoral position at the Perinatal Research Centre at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. His successful 3 year tenure there included 25 international publications and the patenting of an EEG Seizure detection algorithm for newborn babies. The skill set Luke had developed through his study and research were then adapted to the business environment through his common sense systematic approach to the understanding of problems, identifying the correct functions and tools to address these problems and solving these problems in an orderly and efficient manner. In 2008 Luke was engaged as a consultant for a property and retail business conglomerate and was charged with the task of setting up and managing a wide range of businesses and the construction and sale of a large variety of properties. This included the set-up and management of supermarkets, service stations, bottle shops, hotels and earthmoving equipment and the construction and sale of hotels, shopping centres, houses and units. In 2011, Luke joined the Business Engineers Australia Group to extend his overall offering, now having access to specialist finance and accounts services as well as providing general Business Engineering for his clients. Natasha Wyatt

Natasha is a qualified Bookkeeper/Accounting Technician and Registered BAS Agent with over 18 years' experience in multiple facets of small to medium-sized business accounting, payroll, administration and human resources related functions. Natasha is passionate about supporting her clients to grow their businesses by helping them understand and gain insight from their financial data and by taking the stress out of managing financial and compliance obligations. She takes a modern approach to maximising her clients workflow efficiency by using the latest industry knowledge and technology available. Natasha started her bookkeeping career in her early twenties and after taking a break from the workforce to start a family, she embarked on further studies in Accounting and obtained her BAS Agent Registration. Personally, Natasha loves being active and outdoors and particularly enjoys cycling, walking, kayaking and leisure horse-riding whenever possible. Oliver Popovic

Oliver, a big thinker, takes a creative angle to problem-solving. He joined Business Engineers after completing his Bachelor of Actuarial Science at Bond University. Oliver brings curiosity, a high level of attention to detail and exceptional mathematical and problem-solving skills to the team. The number of problems that can be solved creatively attracted Oliver to pursue a career in the finance industry. His work experience includes housing research for the Australian Institute of Progress, economic research and coaching novice colleagues. Oliver is passionate about helping others both personally and through his work and has exceptional leadership and advisory skills. A Gold Coast local, he enjoys getting the most out of our beaches, the gym, walking and nurturing relationships with his friends and family.

Pieter Van Baren

Pieter brings vast knowledge and experience in the areas of bank lending, financial analysis, compliance/quality assurance, digital technology, and business improvement. He has gained extensive skills in Banking - working at the Branch level, Private Banking, Business Banking, Compliance and as a Mortgage Credit Analyst. He aims to make the process of applying for finance as easy as possible for clients and seeks to add value to people's lives and businesses by helping them get the finance they need. Growing up in Perth, Pieter completed a commerce degree alongside starting his career in banking. After his first role as a bank teller in 2004, he quickly shifted into a sales consultant role opening bank accounts for customers, and progressively moved onto arranging personal loans, supplementary home loans and eventually mortgage refinances. He then moved into private banking processing documentation and organising settlements for both residential and commercial loans. Eventually after 8 years of service Pieter left the bank to work for a boutique finance broker in Melbourne. Pieter's strong attention to detail allowed him to move into the Compliance side of banking as a Quality Assurance Manager (a role he continued when he lived overseas) where he enjoyed assisting colleagues to follow procedures correctly whilst also helping them serve their customers as efficiently as possible. Pieter returned to Australia from the UK in 2022, settling on the Gold Coast and joining Business Engineers. Pieter is most passionate about doing things accurately and efficiently. He follows the latest trends in the fintech industry and enjoys discovering tools to make managing finances easier and sharing this information with others.

Outside of work Poey loves to travel and has visited many places across Europe, USA, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Poey grew up and completed her bachelor's degree in Hong Kong. Su is our smiling assassin. She brings a can-do attitude and her bubbly personality brightens the office. After a long IT career in Sydney and the UK specialising in programming; Su took a sea-change into massage therapy before settling on a career in bookkeeping and accounts. She brings 10 years of experience in accounting practices servicing a wide range of businesses. Her IT background has made her efficient in using specialised accounting software for automation, efficiency and to get the best information possible for her clients. Su loves the surprising amount of variety that comes with bookkeeping. Whether setting up accounts, educating clients on how to use and understand their software, day-to-day processing, through monthly management reports or completing tax compliance and year-end preparations; she takes great pride in solving problems and fixing things so they are correct and consistent. Welsh-born, Su has lived in Sydney, the UK and now calls the Gold Coast home. Outside of work she enjoys time with her family, swimming, reading, Formula 1 and smiling.
