CHOZEN COUNSELORS - Key Persons
Born and raised in Philadelphia to the late Ada Harris, that's where it all began. At a young age she knew she wanted to help others, whether volunteering to teach the children Bible Class or going to a nursing home with her mom to sing songs to the residents.
She is a graduate of Parkway Gamma High School. She was noted as Who's Who Among American High School Students in the 1999-2000 edition. Jennifer pursued higher education to become skilled in the areas of helping others. She completed a dual degree program and obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Sociology from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and a Bachelors of Arts in Social Work from Salisbury University.
Jennifer then joined the work force helping teen moms earn their GED, prepare for the workforce, learn ESL and empowered them to be the best mother they could be. She has advocated for those with developmental disabilities, ensuring appropriate care and employment opportunities.
From these experiences, Jennifer found joy in helping other's balance life's daily challenges. In understanding the need for her passion to be fulfilled, she enrolled in LaSalle University, pursued and obtained her Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology, specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy with honors to continue her mission.
Jennifer has enjoyed editing since a young age as she would edit the books she borrowed from the library. In 2009 she was appointed the Publishing Manager for Arnaz Publishing Group. She has assisted in publishing over 50 books.
In 2015, Jennifer launched Chozen Counselors Inc., a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to inspire, motivate, empower and strengthen individuals and families by way of one-to-one counseling, family sessions, workshops, conferences, literature and other events. Jennifer finds joy in serving at risk youth and families helping them achieve their goals as they inspire her to continue achieving her goals.
In 2020, she launched Jen Kares powered by Chozen Counselors, a live podcast that premieres on Facebook and YouTube on Mondays at 8pm. She specializes in bringing the community to you by way of much needed conversations for individuals and families.
Jennifer is a licensed minister, Marriage and Family Therapist, SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) Facilitator and most of all she is grateful for the opportunity to help someone else.
