Stan Shaw - Founder

The CEO and director of CTS, which he founded in 2006, Stan is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Information Privacy Professional in Canada (CIPP/C). He is also a Prosci Certified Change Management Practitioner (CMP, Prosci) and incorporates change management principles into all of his work. Having completed a Ph.D. in pathology long before embarking on a career in IT, he has an exceptional background in healthcare, project management, privacy and data security. Stan is an innovative thinker, matching technology to client needs to ensure requirements are met within budget, on time, and in many cases exceeding expectations. In recent years, he has conducted multiple privacy and security audits as well as privacy impact assessments with some of the leading privacy experts in BC. As a senior manager, Stan has: Served as the Vancouver Regional Lead with the Physician Technology Information Office (PITO). a division of the BCMA. His team supported private medical clinics implementing electronic medical records, resulting in an 89% adoption rate with over 1,500 physicians in Vancouver. At 92% across all regions in British Columbia, PITO achieved the highest EMR adoption rate across Canada. Served as interim Director for a First Nations health care organization on Vancouver Island, serving the needs of 29 First Nations communities Prior to creating his own consulting firm, Stan served as the Director, IT Planning, and Development and IT Strategic Initiatives Lead for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. Stan has a strong background in health care and higher education. Prior to undertaking his Ph.D. in pathology, he worked as a clinical medical laboratory technologist in several tertiary care hospitals. He is currently a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and has led workshops and presented seminars through the Society of PM Professionals of Greater Vancouver, and in course development for Risk Management courses offered through the Canadian West Coast PMI chapter. Stan is also an active member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). He is passionate about keeping abreast of emerging issues in project management, privacy, and data security. An avid long distance cyclist, Stan raised funds for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation by cycling 1200 kilometers twice from Vancouver to Banff. Stan regularly joins friends in Colorado to cycle in "Ride the Rockies", a spectacular six-day, 600 km tour. He recently completed his fifth tour.
