Dr. Adi Moorman - Founder

Who is Dr Adi Moorman? Dr. Adi Moorman is a psychotherapist, specializing in individual, family, couple therapy, and women's issues including depression, anxiety, and trauma. She holds a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and is a Virginia Licensed Professional Counselor. Dr. Adi Moorman also provides specialized co-therapy couples services with her husband, Dr. Craig Moorman. What is her expertise? Dr. Moorman's professional work experience is centered on adolescent, family and couple counseling, and women's issues. She majored in social work at the undergraduate level, graduating from Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel. During this time she worked for the Department of Social Services in Israel providing case management, consultation, and social work services to individuals and their families. She has also provided services in a psychiatric hospital, counseled cancer patients, and co-facilitated elderly groups on issues of grief and loss. Dr. Moorman recieved a fellowship during her Masters studies. She interned at the YWCA and an elementary school, providing counseling services for youth, individuals, couples, and families. During her internship, Dr. Moorman also implemented and facilitated therapy groups for adolescents and their families and provided at-risk interventions for adolescents. Dr. Moorman completed her doctoral internship with Fairfax County, VA Juvenile and Domestic Court Family Systems Unit providing individual, family, and couple work, as well as completing reports and recommendations for court.

Who is Dr Moorman? Dr. Craig Moorman is a psychotherapist, specializing in couple therapy, anxiety, specific phobias, depression, addictions, and men's issues. He holds a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Louisiana, is a Virginia Licensed Professional Counselor with 22 years of experience in counseling, and is recognized by the Washingtonian as one of the Top Mental Health Professionals in the Washington, D.C. area. In 2003, Dr. Moorman and his wife, Dr. Adi Moorman, co-founded Finding Solutions Counseling Centers. Unique in the field, Dr. Moorman and his wife, Dr. Adi Moorman, both psychotherapists, offer specialized co-therapy services to couples as a husband and wife team. What is his expertise? Individual Therapy - Dr. Moorman has training and many years of experience working with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, addictions, and men's issues. He integrates approaches that are best for each client depending on their symptoms and needs, including Cognitive Behavior (CBT), Mindfulness, Systems Theory, Solutions-Focused, Interpersonal Neurobiology (Brain Science), RLT (Relational Life Therapy), Attachment Focused Therapy, and Faith-Based. Couples Therapy - Dr. Moorman has extensive training and experience working with couples. Dr. Moorman is trained and has had many years of experience in working with a wide variety of couple issues: communication problems, infidelity, parenting, family-of-origin and attachment problems, addictions and others. He specializes in helping couples reduce communication triggers, reach emotional regulation, and work through difficult issues. Dr. Moorman is excited about the results of Conjoint Couples Counseling with his wife Dr. Adi Moorman. In this model two therapists team up in session to work with couples. As a result, both individuals have a therapist that advocates for them and helps them navigate the process. Individual sessions are also included in the model as a way for couples to process their feelings outside of the couples' sessions to work on their individual growth, further enhancing the efficacy of the Conjoint Sessions.

Dr. Jack Merenda

Who is Dr Merenda? Dr. Merenda is a clinical psychologist, specializing in anxiety, mood disorders, relational issues, self-image, men's challenges, parenting, life transitions, families with special needs children, and spirituality. He holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Rosemead School of Psychology at Biola University, is a Virginia Licensed Clinical Psychologist, and has been in clinical practice since 1994. He is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Association for Christian Counselors (AACC). Upon receiving his doctorate in psychology, Dr. Merenda practiced in California for 12 years in private, group, and community counseling settings. He also held the position of Adjunct Professor for Biola University for the Organizational Leadership Degree (BOLD) Program, and served as a Clinical Supervisor for New Life Clinics. He moved to Virginia in 2006 and served for 8 years as the Pastor of Counseling and Care at Immanuel Bible Church in Springfield, Virginia. He became a member of the Finding Solutions Counseling Centers Team in June of 2015. As a member of the Finding Solutions Counseling Team, Dr. Merenda is the Coordinator of Men's Services and a clinician member of the Finding Solutions Couple's Clinic. What is his expertise? Dr. Merenda is a published research writer and an active presenter. He has presented on overcoming depression and anxiety, anger management, marriage mentoring, marriage enrichment, parent effectiveness, sexual addiction and integrity, lay-counseling, and the grieving process. He has also presented research in child socialization and development at The Convention of the American Psychological Association (APA) in a paper related to parenting, entitled, "A Test of Hoffman's Socialization Theory." Dr. Merenda counsels people of all ages, with a wide range of life challenges. He employs an individualized blend of therapeutic skills, with a full appreciation that each client and his/her situation is very unique. Dr. Merenda maintains the "whole person" perspective-each of us having a body, soul, and spirit, each of which needs care. From this perspective, Dr. Merenda provides a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach. Dr. Tara Seward

Who is Tara Seward? Dr. Seward is a licensed clinical psychologist and specializes in anxiety disorders, relationship issues, and parenting. What is her expertise? Dr. Seward is a licensed clinical psychologist and specializes in anxiety disorders, relationship issues, and parenting. She truly believes that at the heart of most behavioral and emotional issues are missing skills. The goal of therapy is to identify what is missing and then teach those skills. After years of being frustrated with the approach she was taught to utilize in the treatment of anxiety disorders and OCD she began searching for more effective and more efficient options. It was during that time she began training with a variety of experts in the field who utilize a combination of therapeutic approaches to address the patterns that foster anxiety and depression. In addition, Dr. Seward also conducts psychological evaluations to assist with diagnostic clarity for issues such as ADHD, learning disabilities, and emotional disorders. She completed her undergraduate degree at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina. She received her master's degree in clinical psychology from Western Carolina University. Following graduation from WCU, she moved to Wilmington, NC where she worked as the Staff Psychologist for the children any youth unit in a community mental health center for 2 years. Dr. Seward was then accepted into the clinical psychology doctoral program at the American School of Professional Psychology, DC campus. Heidi Tucker

Who is Heidi Tucker? Heidi is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. She graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and earned her master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from The University of San Diego. Her focus is with adults and couples where she incorporates an integrative approach to treatment including: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Attachment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Heidi believes in treating the whole person and being attentive to the emotional, physical, spiritual and social design and needs of the individual. She honors a client's desire to incorporate their faith into therapy as a source of strength and perspective. What is her expertise? In her work with couples, Heidi uses Attachment Therapy to assist clients in understanding the "why" behind their interactions and reactions in relationships. Helping couples explore the impact of their earliest relationships allows them to gain a deeper understanding of themselves. Healing often begins as couples develop compassion and empathy for each other. As the foundation of their relationship begins to repair, they tend to experience harmony and a deeper satisfaction in their connection. Heidi strives to provide a safe and nonjudgmental place where couples can feel heard, supported, and encouraged. In her work with individuals, Heidi uses EMDR to promote healing and restoration. She trained with the EMDR Institute, where EMDR found its beginning over 30 years ago. EMDR is an effective and evidence-based treatment for conditions including, but not limited to: depression, anxiety, PTSD, sleep disturbance, grief and anger. She has developed her own style of EMDR that is flexible and is tailored to the needs of the client. Heidi also draws from Attachment and Cognitive Behavioral therapies to equip clients with necessary tools to successfully navigate challenges they may face.

John Fletcher

Who is John? John Fletcher, Jr., is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 28 years of experience working with children, teenagers, adults, individuals, couples, and families. He is a graduate of the Adler-Dreikurs School of Psychology at Bowie State University where he earned his Master of the Arts degree in Counseling Psychology. He is a frequent speaker/trainer in the areas of teen depression and suicide, trauma, general counseling education, and human nature. John is actively involved in the community. He has served as PTSO President at his children's high school and continues to volunteer in the schools. He has conducted training for Fairfax Police/EMS in the area of PTSD, consulted in the Loudoun County Public School system and other community organizations, and has presented at various conferences. What is his expertise? His counseling experience is focused on working with individuals struggling with Eating Disorders, Self-harm, the Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Men's issues, Relationship issues, and Young Adult issues. John has held positions in many areas in the mental health field including Clinical Director of Outpatient Services and Assistant Clinical Director of Partial Hospital Programs at the Countryside Family Treatment Center, Inc., as a group therapist at North Spring Behavioral, an inpatient therapist at the Psychiatric Institute of Washington, D.C., and a therapist in both the inpatient and outpatient programs at the Minirth, Meier & Byrd Clinic, P.A. Juan Kim

Who is Juan Kim? Juan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who for the past 12 years has been serving members of our community facing the demoralizing effects of pervasive depression, anxiety, compulsions, addictions, mania, and psychosis. What drives him as a clinician is the privilege of witnessing clients who were once stuck in a place of helplessness take intentional and decisive action toward their better future. Juan learned that a major barrier to lasting change is our struggle to accept and embrace an undesired part of ourselves. He has found that effective clinical interventions go beyond alleviating symptoms and restoring lost functioning: They develop the client's capacity to live their life as their whole self and show the client how to play an active role in who they are becoming. This, in turn, leads the client to face life's challenges more confidently as well as more genuinely connect with others as a stronger, more integrated self. What is his expertise? Juan's singular focus in therapy is to facilitate a space where both he and the client are intentional about advancing the client's best interest and helping the client reach their goals and enter a better place. Julie Fender

Julie utilizes a comprehensive approach in treating clients, including integrating faith-based beliefs for those interested in doing so. She is also a Certified Employee Assistance Professional and frequent speaker/trainer on a variety of health and wellness topics and provides critical incident response to area workplaces.

Kathryn Stevens

Kathryn is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist with over 12 years of experience, focused primarily on preschool and school aged children. Through her role as a school psychologist in Northern Virginia school districts, she has served as an evaluator, counselor, crisis responder, professional mentor, dyslexia specialist, school refusal specialist, and responsive instruction/MTSS team member. She specializes in assessment of cognitive profiles, identifying patterns of strengths and needs, as well as assessment of attentional and executive functioning difficulties and autism. Kathryn graduated from James Madison University with a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in media arts and design-print journalism. She then attended The College of William and Mary for graduate school where she earned a Master of Education degree in school psychology and Educational Specialist degree in school psychology. In addition to providing comprehensive evaluations and educational consultations in private practice, Kathryn continues to work in the public school system. Her knowledge of grade level benchmarks, standardized testing, and school-based services is a great compliment to the evaluations and services she provides in private practice.

Kimberly Petz

Who is Kimberly? Kimberly Petz is an educational diagnostician who uses standardized testing to assess academic abilities. She is able to identify learning styles, academic strengths and weaknesses, intellectual giftedness, and learning disorders. Kimberly is serving students across elementary, middle, and high schools. Kimberly has 19 years of experience working in the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS). She is a National Board Certified Exceptional Needs Specialist and Educational Diagnostician. Finding Solutions Counseling Centers asked Kimberly to join the practice due to her expertise in the administration and interpretation of educational assessments and extensive experience in educational processes. Her recommendations have helped students learn strategies that personally work best for them, develop more confidence, and promote academic success. What is her expertise? Kimberly began her career as a cross-categorical teacher for LCPS. She taught at this capacity for nine years with core competencies including, but not limited to: instruction of core curriculum, observation/evaluation of student performance across academic, behavioral, and social domains, and development/implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Kimberly has served on leadership committees and mentored new teaching staff to LCPS. Additionally, Kimberly serves on several Positive Interventions and Behavioral Supports (PBIS) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) teams in order to improve identification practices for struggling learners. Kimberly is a Child Study Team member and makes recommendations to meet the educational and behavioral needs of general education students. In 2011, Kimberly became nationally certified as an Early Childhood through Young Adulthood, Exceptional Needs Specialist, using these skills to further hone her craft.

Lindsey Mcrae

Taylor Marrs

He received his Master of Social Work degree from Radford University's Waldron College of Health and Human Services. Taylor began counseling with the Veteran's Health Administration during his graduate education where he provided mental health services to both individuals and groups. Taylor has extensive experience with adolescents ages 12 & up from his time providing program planning and community building with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia. What is his expertise? His counseling experience is centered around treating depression and anxiety. Taylor has also provided support for issues such as ADHD, substance use, insomnia, and isolation. He also has expertise working with adolescents and young adults.
