MFX - Key Persons
HOH Jian Hui joined MFX as an editor since he graduated with a degree in Mass Communications (Broadcasting) in 2014. Over the years he has had the oppurtunity to work with various animators, visual effects artists and film directors. As a result, Jian Hui is very versatile, and has a breadth of experience with many genres. This has lead to the production of many quality advertising works.
Some of his most notable works include Coway "Ombak" which received 3 different Merit awards for Kancil Awards 2019 in Malaysia, as well as the opening video for Maybank's ASEAN event. Jian Hui has also edited music videos for Yonder Music title "Kau Ilham Ku" which features various Asian artists and a special music video for Siti Nurhaliza's tribute to Whitney Houston.
In 2001, Moon K CHAN revolutionized the industry in this region by setting up MFX, the first digital design studio specializing in animation, special effects and motion graphics. Four years later, Moon was named Emerging Entrepreneur Recipient of Ernst & Young (Malaysia) Entrepreneur of the Year 2005 for his pioneering spirit and his contribution in building his industry.
His background in advertising, having worked for Ogilvy and Mather in Singapore, JWT in Kuala Lumpur and McCann's in Toronto gives him a keen insight into the expectations of a studio and what it requires to survive.
Moon is passionate about design education, and has spoken at a number of design colleges in Malaysia and spearheaded a special program between MFX and New Era College, a privately funded community college. He is also the founder of the Malaysian Video Awards Festival (1995 - 2008), one of Malaysia's most prominent film festivals.
TAN Ching Hung began his career in MFX as a 2D animator after graduating in Graphic Design. Over the last 12 years, he's had the opportunity to work with experienced directors and to lead teams of artists. He has also expanded his skillset into 3D Animation & Motion Graphics.
Tan has worked on many award-winning works, such as Tenaga Nasional's series of PSA shorts which were selected as a 2D animation finalist for the Apollo Awards. Other notable works include Samsung's whinsical "biography" of Malaysia's lead ice skater and McDonald's ads which involved colaboration with famous Malaysian cartoonist, LAT.
