The East Lansing Educational Foundation (ELEF) is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization. All contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible. We maintain a finance committee made up of board and non-board members. The board's treasurer and endowment treasurer jointly head the Finance Committee. Budgets are developed and presented in January to the full board of directors for approval... Established in September, 1984, the East Lansing Educational Foundation recognizes that the quality of an educational system and the vitality of the community it serves are inexorably intertwined. In hopes of nourishing and strengthening this relationship, the Foundation, through the use of private resources, has committed its support to programs and projects which supplement the educational opportunities available to our children... The Foundation, a nonprofit tax-exempt organization, operates independently from the school district for the sole benefit of its students...
