Amanda Hopper

Amanda Hopper joined the Public Equity Investments team of UTIMCO in 2008. Amanda's primary investment responsibility is to manage the Developed Markets Equity portfolio of predominantly long-only and long-biased public equity investments across the globe. In this role, Amanda and the Public Equity team are responsible for managing the public equity portfolio for the various funds managed by UTIMCO. She has also been a co-lead of the organization's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion efforts. Prior to her tenure at UTIMCO, Amanda served as a Senior Investment Associate in the Private Markets group for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas. She also spent three years at Chicago-based investment bank William Blair & Company, working as an Equity Research Associate in the health care services sector. Amanda began her career in litigation consulting at Navigant Consulting and LECG Corporation, focusing on financial, valuation, and economic analyses in connection with legal disputes. Prior to joining UTIMCO, Carolina served as General Counsel for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, the sixth largest public pension fund in the United States, for seven years. Carolina's legal practice includes a strong litigation and regulatory background with extensive experience before both state and federal courts and agencies. She has approximately 25 years of experience on Wall Street and successfully navigated litigation and regulatory issues ensuing from the 2008 financial crisis. She has represented numerous large financial institutions throughout her career, including eight years with Barclays' investment banking division and six years with Davis Polk & Wardwell, LLP, both in New York. She began her legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Sam Sparks, United States District Judge for the Western District of Texas in Austin. She is an accomplished public speaker on a variety of topics, including fiduciary matters, governance, private investment funds, compliance matters, and securities litigation. Carolina holds a BA in government and a JD, both from the University of Texas at Austin, and is a member of the Texas and New York bars. Tony is responsible for managing the endowment's $7B Stable Value Hedge Fund portfolio, which consists of a collection of diversifying strategies that exhibit low beta to traditional risk assets. Prior to joining UTIMCO, Tony was Head of Non-Directional Strategies at Mesirow Advanced Strategies, a fund of hedge funds with peak assets of $14B. In this role, Tony was responsible for sourcing and monitoring low beta strategies such as equity market neutral, quantitative, macro, relative value, volatility arbitrage, convertible arbitrage, insurance-linked, and trade finance. Tony was also responsible for managing customized client portfolios with low beta mandates. Prior to Mesirow, Tony was a trader at Bridgewater Associates, a $160B hedge fund located in Westport, CT. At Bridgewater, Tony was responsible for managing the firm's fixed income trading activity, which included developed market rates, emerging market debt, corporate debt, and inflation-linked bonds. Prior to Bridgewater, Tony was a trader at Marquette Partners, a Chicago-based proprietary trading firm that was one of the leading market makers in futures and options. At Marquette, Tony spearheaded the firm's algorithmic trading efforts by leading a group of programmers in the development of rules-based trading strategies.
