Matthew Okumoto is the Director of Bands at Jefferson Charter Academy in Hanford, where he oversees the Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Beginning Band, Mariachi, and teaches 4th grade music. Prior to that, he was at Fresno High School, where he oversaw the Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Winter Percussion, Color/Winterguard, and Concert Percussion ensembles, as well as numerous small ensembles. During his time at Fresno High, they received numerous awards and high ratings for marching band, symphonic band, jazz band, with many students participating in local and state honor bands, and the winterguard winning its first ever circuit championship.
Matthew completed his B.A in Music Education from CSU, Fresno in 2009, studying horn with Tom Hiebert, Jennie Bloomster, James Winter, and David Krehbiel. He is currently completing his Master's in Conducting, studying under Dr. Erik Leung, at Fresno Pacific University.
Matthew also works with the Blue Devils "B" Drum and Bugle Corps, primarily working with the hornline. Since joining the staff at Blue Devils "B", they have won the DCI Open Class Championship in 2010, 2011, 2014, and 2016, and winning the High Brass caption in 2010, 2014, and 2016.
Matthew has done much work for the local and state music educators conferences and was selected to be the percussion manager for the CBDA All-State Concert Band and the CBDA All-State Symphonic band in 2014 and 2015. Matthew also conducted the Fresno Pacific Symphonic Band at the Western International Band Conference in November of 2018, and conducted the west coast premiere of Steven Bryant's Introit: Tin Riot for brass ensemble with the Pacific Brass Ensemble.

Selina Shah MD, FACP is a board certified sports medicine and internal medicine physician. She is a member of the USA Gymnastics Referral Network, the Team Physician for USA Synchronized Swimming, and a Team Physician for USA Figure Skating and USA Weightlifting. She is a dance company physician for the San Francisco Ballet School, Peninsula Ballet Theater, and Diablo Ballet. She is a physician for Berkeley Repertory Theater, Mill's College, St. Mary's College, and Northgate High School. She takes care of the performers for Cirque du Soleil and various Broadway productions when they come to the San Francisco Bay Area. She has taken care of several Broadway performers (i.e. American Idiot, South Pacific, Lion King, Book of Mormon, MoTown, and Billy Elliot).
A former gymnast, rhythmic gymnast, and current dancer, and pianist, Dr. Shah is able to combine her own experiences as an athlete with her medical training to provide skilled diagnoses and management options for the Blue Devils.

Tom VandeWater has returned to the BDPA Board of Directors as Treasurer in 2018, as having previously served on the Board for 6 years and Treasurer for 3 years. In addition to help keeping the finances in order, Tom previously contributed significantly to the Blue Devils branding and business expansion efforts.
Tom has 30 years' experience in the telecommunications industry in business/channel development, strategic/product marketing, and sales. He has established strategic partnerships and sold complex solutions to senior management at telecom start-ups, independent telephone companies, and multi-billion dollar global corporations.
Tom began his career at Bellcore, a leading provider of communications software and consulting services based on world class research. His last position after 14 years was Executive Director of Global Alliances. After relocating to the west coast, he worked for 4 years at a VoIP soft switch company in which he was directly responsible for sales to the Southwestern US. Tom is currently a Senior Account Director for CenturyLink responsible for large strategic accounts on the west coast, a position he has held for the past 6 years.
Tom earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers College of Engineering, a Master of Science in Computer Science from UC Berkeley, and an MBA in finance/strategic marketing from New York University. Tom marched with the Garfield Cadets and played mellophone. He also was assistant band director and drill designer for his alma-mater David Brearley Regional High School in NJ. Despite all that fine education, Tom's claim to fame is that he bombed as a contestant on The Wheel of Fortune.
