Anneliese Green

Annelise Green (she/her) is a Research Associate at the Education Insights Center (EdInsights). Annelise collaborates on evaluation projects that meaningfully inform and evolve educational systems, resources, and policy. She primarily orients her work with a transformative, humanistic, and mixed-methods perspective, particularly seeking to reflect areas of opportunity to promote equitable systemic change. Prior to joining EdInsights, Annelise discovered her vocation through the intersection of a deep passion for providing youth pathways to thrive and the power of data and evaluation to accelerate impact. Annelise obtained her Bachelor's as a double major in Psychology and Intercultural Communications at Pepperdine University, and her Master's in Educational Psychology with a specialization in research methods, measurement, and evaluation through the University of Connecticut. Annelise continues her studies as a lifelong learner and student of anti-racism.

Jackie Caro-Sena is a research associate at EdInsights focused on the large-scale evaluation of the California Community Colleges Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI). She uses mixed methods to evaluate IEPI's professional development resources and help provide equitable opportunities for underrepresented students. Jackie received her Master of Arts in Education from UC Davis in June 2017 and her BA in Ethnic Studies and American Studies with a concentration in Social Policy from UC Berkeley in May 2015.

Kalifa Madden

Kalifa Madden joined EdInsights in January 2020 and currently manages the center's communications needs. Kalifa earned her BA in Communications and Organizational Public Relations at California State University, Los Angeles. She has a passion for communications and enjoys facilitating the needs of the organization, through creativity, collaboration and transparency. She is also passionate about student success initiatives as a first-generation transfer student herself. Prior to joining EdInsights, Kalifa worked as a Digital Media Manager and Social Media Specialist in Los Angeles.

Lada Thao

Lada Thao joined EdInsights in January 2024 as an administrative assistant. Lada earned her BA in International Relations with a minor in Psychology from California State University, Chico. As a first-generation college graduate herself, Lada is passionate about helping students have access to educational opportunities and support to succeed in higher education. As an undergrad, Lada served as the president of the Upward Bound Alumni Association, a student organization whose focus is to help high school seniors transition from high school to college, and to provide them support and resources to pursue and complete their college degree program. Lada organized multiple fundraisers to fund college scholarship awards for the Upward Bound Alumni Association, and in an effort to support freshmen retention, organized mentorship programs to help students acclimate to university life. She organized and planned workshops to help high school seniors with college applications, as well as financial aid workshops to help them in their college admission journey. Lada also served as a member of the Hmong Student Association at Chico State where she helped coordinate a higher education conference for Hmong students and parents in the local community to learn more about higher education opportunities.

Laura Diep

Laura Diep joined EdInsights in May 2022, and currently supports the organization and its projects as an administrative assistant. Laura earned her BS in Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis. During her time there, she worked as a financial wellness peer advisor and served as the advocacy coordinator for her college chapter of Nazun (Challah For Hunger). In the former role, she taught financial wellness to her fellow students. In the latter role, she helped raise thousands of dollars for the Yolo Food Bank by baking and selling challah to the local community. A former transfer student, Laura is passionate about promoting accessibility and equity in education.

Rebecca Woolston

Rebecca received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Sacramento State. She also holds an MFA in English and Creative Writing from Mills College and a BA in English with a minor in History from Sacramento State. She was a Division I student-athlete, competing all four years for Sacramento State's Women's Rowing team. She is a proud first-generation college student, which contributes to her research interest of student empowerment and engagement, and increasing access to secondary education. Her dissertation examined how the culture of the U.S. affects and responds to curricular representations in American Literature courses across the CSU, taking a particular look at student's experiences of such spaces. Research interests include power structures, reading and writing curricula, literature, pedagogy, and cultural studies. She's especially interested in examining these topics through the intersection of feminist, queer, and antiracist theories.

Sukai Kato-Hopkins

Sukai (pronounced "sky") is a research associate at EdInsights working on projects related to community colleges and evaluating initiatives to improve the community college experience for students and practitioners. Her experience in higher education includes institutional research, student affairs, and admissions. Sukai's past research has focused on qualitative analyses of multiracial identity development in higher education and how institutions can better capture and support students' ever-changing identities. Originally from the Japanese countryside, she has recently been going down online rabbit-holes regarding research on rural higher education. Sukai holds an M.A. in Higher Education & Organizational Change, as well as a B.A. in Applied Linguistics with minors in Cognitive Science and Education Studies from UCLA.
