PARENTS AS TUTORS

Parents as Tutors build parents' capacity to partner with schools in increasing student achievement. Requiring parents to be fully vested in home/school partnerships starts with empowering them to impact change. We provide them with academic tools and strategies needed to help children learn to read and read to learn. Parents as Tutors support school districts, organizations, extended learning programs, and institutions that espouse the dual-capacity framework of creating process conditions linked to learning - this occurs when we connect families to teaching/learning goals and build their capacity to partner for student achievement... Our resources provide strategies related to phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension. They are available in both English and Spanish to help parents of English language learners. In addition, our resources align with existing reading curriculums and in some cases are used in turnkey intervention programs.
