Angela Johnson is chief information security officer for Children's Wisconsin. A tireless advocate for the better health and wellness of children, Angela works all levels of information systems to promote policies that support this goal. She has more than 17 years of experience in information systems, supply chain and financial services. Always focused on Children's belief that kids deserve the best, Angela leads Children's strategic efforts to improve security and infrastructure processes and securely implement new technology. She works in close partnership with all parts of the system to support innovation and collaboration while ensuring compliance with the strict regulatory environment governing the healthcare industry.
In her role as chief information security officer, Angela collaborates with other leaders to ensure infrastructure design and implementation meet security requirements. She also plays a role in planning, maintaining, securing, optimizing, expanding and protecting Children's growing information technology infrastructure.
Angela brings a multi-disciplinary approach to leading and executing a risk-based enterprise information security, physical security, business continuity and infrastructure strategy and program, helping Children's effectively meet the needs of the kids and families it serves.
Angela is a graduate of Marquette University where she earned her undergraduate degree. She also holds a MBA from Walden University. Angela is a member of the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee board, as well as president of the Midwest Cybersecurity Alliance. Prior to joining Children's in 2017, Angela served as the director of information security at Robert W. Baird & Co in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

David A. Margolis, MD, hematologist and oncologist, was named the interim Pediatrician in Chief for Children's Wisconsin in January 2020, but has been a part of our campus community since 1989. In addition to his role with Children's, Dr. Margolis is interim chair of Pediatrics for the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Dr. Margolis' remains a passionate expert in caring for children with cancer and blood disorders. Under the training of former mentors, Dr. Margolis has provided the clinical foundation for the Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Programs at Children's Wisconsin to be known worldwide for its outstanding care provided to children who need alternative donor transplants for cancer and aplastic anemia.
Dr. Margolis is a member of several committees and boards, including the Medical Advisory Board of the Make a Wish Foundation, the Medical Advisory Board for the Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation and the Children's Wisconsin Foundation Board.
In addition to his medical expertise, board and committee leadership, Dr. Margolis is well known for his passion for allowing all kids to be kids, especially when children are impacted by an illness such as cancer. Over the years, Dr. Margolis has made it a point to allow kids to have fun in the hospital by having squirt gun fights, throwing snowballs and allowing kids to spray paint his hair green in honor of his beloved Milwaukee Bucks during the playoff season.
His passion for letting kids be kids, patient care and philanthropy has been recognized in the Milwaukee community over a number of years. In 1998, he was recognized by the Milwaukee Business Journal as a 40 Under 40 recipient and was inducted into the 40 under 40 Hall of Fame in 2015 for his ongoing work on behalf of children. Additionally, Dr. Margolis was the recipient of the 2016 BizTimes Health Care Heroes Award and was recognized in 2019 by the Donald Driver Foundation as a Driven To Achieve recipient for his work with Rainbow Camp, a day camp through the Jewish Community Center.
In 2022, the tradition of hair painting led to Dr. Margolis being honored with the Bruno Lambert Good Guy Award through the Jewish Sports Heritage Association.
Dr. Margolis attended Indiana University where he met his wife, Jody. He went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Medicine in 1989 and served an internship and residency in pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin from 1989 to 1992. He completed a Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin from 1992 to 1995, and was also a post-doctoral trainee in the molecular genetics laboratory at the Blood Center of Southeastern Wisconsin, Blood Research Institute.
Dr. Margolis and his wife, Jody, live in Mequon and have two adult daughters, Rachel Margolis-Goodman, who is married to Charlie Goodman, and Melissa Margolis who lives with her dog Rowdy.

David Gourlay, MD, FACS, FAAP, was named Surgeon-in-Chief and the Marie Z. Uihlein Chair in Pediatric Surgery at Children's Wisconsin in September 2022, but has been a part of our campus community since 2006. He serves as Professor of Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and has made a notable impact as the former Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery within the MCW Department of Surgery and as Medical Director of Trauma at Children's Wisconsin.
Dr. Gourlay has helped lead Children's Wisconsin to verifications as a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, the top distinction from the American College of Surgeons recognizing the skills and dedication of our pediatric experts and the full spectrum of our trauma care. As Division Chief, he has led a team of faculty, physician assistants and nurse practitioners collectively performing more than 3,000 cases a year.
Dr. Gourlay's research interests include studying methods for improving surgical quality and outcomes, and better treating pediatric trauma. He has served as a site reviewer for both the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma and American Academy of Pediatrics - NICU Verification Program. Dr. Gourlay has advanced knowledge through his scientific endeavors, including publishing more than 165 articles, abstracts, original papers, book chapters and reviews, and has presented more than 140 local, regional, national and international lectures and workshops.
He also has demonstrated a deep commitment to the education mission as the recipient of MCW's T. Michael Bolger, JD, Standing Ovation Award in 2014 and the Outstanding Medical Student Teacher Award in 2015.
In addition to his medical accomplishments, Dr. Gourlay has a distinguished military service record with the U.S. Army, including six deployments in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. Over his military career he earned numerous service achievement medals, NATO awards and campaign stars. He was promoted to the rank of Colonel in 2015.
Dr. Gourlay earned his bachelor's degree from the University of California - Santa Barbara and his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He also has completed the Leadership Development for Physicians in Academic Health Centers Program from Harvard School of Public Health.
Together with his wife Christine and three kids, Dr. Gourlay enjoys playing tennis, Alpine skiing and spending time in his wife's native Vermont.

Dr. Chris Spahr has been Chief Quality Officer since 2015. In this role, he provides leadership and oversight of an enterprise-wide program of quality, safety, and overall performance improvement. His primary functions include the prioritization and execution of strategically important clinical and operational improvement initiatives and management of the infrastructure and teams to support them. He is passionate about the primary outcomes of the program; to enhance learning across the organization and integration of improvement efforts across the continuum of care.
In addition to his role as Chief Quality Officer, Dr. Spahr also serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Medical College of Wisconsin, and is a practicing emergency medicine physician. He has been providing outstanding emergency care to children and their families for over 15 years, with a practice focused on the specialized care of our most critically ill and injured children.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Spahr served as the Division Chair of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Mayo Clinic and as the Associate Medical Director of Emergency Services at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. In these roles, he developed his strong interest and skills in quality improvement, leading to several projects that improved the care of children in the emergency department.
Dr. Spahr earned his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of Chicago and Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Jennifer Henningfeld, MD, is the medical staff president and medical director of the Tracheostomy and Home Ventilator Program at Children's Wisconsin.
Dr. Henningfeld considers it an honor and a privilege to work with children with chronic respiratory illnesses and their families. She greatly enjoys caring for patients with pulmonary health needs and has developed a passion for the care of children who require tracheostomy and home ventilation. Dr. Henningfeld has published several research studies on pediatric pulmonology topics.
Her clinical interests aim to strengthen the strong regional, national and international presence of Children's Tracheostomy and Home Ventilator Program while also highlighting the multidisciplinary care and collaboration across teams to achieve success in this population of vulnerable, high-risk patients.
Her team was recognized as Notable Heroes in Health Care by BizTimes Milwaukee for their work on telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Henningfeld has received distinction as a Top Doctor in Milwaukee Magazine and as an Exceptional Woman in Medicine by MKE Lifestyle.

Karen Timberlake joined Children's Wisconsin as the president of Child Well-being in April 2023. In this role, Karen provides executive oversight on all aspects of our child well-being and community health initiatives, and has system-wide responsibility for government relations and advocacy.
Karen served twice as secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS), from 2008-2011 under Gov. Jim Doyle, and most recently under Gov. Tony Evers from January 2021 until stepping down at the end of 2022. In her most recent role as secretary, she was instrumental in supporting public health during the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, the mpox outbreak and the infant formula shortage. She also worked to reduce disparities in health by investing in telehealth services that made health care more accessible, and by prioritizing investments in organizations working with historically underserved communities. Karen also championed efforts to deepen and expand DHS's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in employment practices, policies and programs.
Karen previously advised clients across a variety of industries on policy and advocacy, as well as health care innovation and healthy community investments as a partner for Michael Best Strategies, LLC., and served as Director of the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and as an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
In 2022, Forward Latino recognized Karen as Health Equity Champion of the Year. The United Way of Dane County has twice honored Karen for her community-building and philanthropic efforts.
Karen received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Indiana University and her Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School. She is a long-time board member of the United Way of Dane County, and a newly elected board member of the Wisconsin Primary Health Care Association.

Marc Cadieux is chief financial officer of Children's Wisconsin, the only health system in Wisconsin that is 100% dedicated to kids and teens. In his role, Marc is responsible for all strategic and operational matters related to finance in the health system including financial planning and budgeting, financial reporting, treasury, revenue cycle management, supply chain and strategic initiatives.
Marc joined Children's as the director of Physician Financial Services in 2005. His responsibilities quickly grew and he has held the positions of director of Financial Services and corporate director of Financial Services. He was promoted to vice president of Financial Services in February 2013. Marc demonstrates a high level of executive and strategic leadership, and has been a key leader in Children's ability to sustain a strong financial position while also preparing for growth and improvement. Marc is also known for having built an exceptional Financial Services team, and for developing strong and trusted relationships with his colleagues, the board of directors and external business partners.
Prior to joining Children's, Marc served as a senior manager, Assurance and Advisory Services at Deloitte in Milwaukee and prior to that he worked in their Winnipeg, Canada, office. At Deloitte, he provided business advisory and assurance services to a variety of industries including healthcare, not-for-profit organizations, professional services, manufacturing and municipal governments. His critical reviews of financial systems and controls provided value-added advice and improved organizational effectiveness for his clients.
Marc earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Marian University and his MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Lubar School of Business. In 2018, he was honored with Marian's Distinguished Alumni Award. He holds licenses as a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Wisconsin, and Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada and Manitoba.
Marc serves as chairman on the board of directors of Special Olympics Wisconsin. Marc is also a board member and current Finance Committee Chair for the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center Thermal Services, Inc. He is a committee member for Make-A-Wish Wisconsin Golf Kids and Children's Wisconsin Tee-Up Fore Kids.
