SPECIALTY CARGO - Key Persons
Prior to working for Specialty Cargo, Inc., Brian worked for Eagle Hardware & Garden as a manager of the Lumber and Loadout departments, where he learned time management, the corporate layout, and customer relations. The best thing that came from his time at Eagle Hardware was meeting his future wife.
Brian joined his father and brother in the family business of Specialty Cargo in 1998. Today, Brian oversees all operational aspects of the company from daily operations, to long-term strategy planning.
Outside of serving his clients, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife, 3 boys and daughter. Whether it be hiking, running, skiing, camping, traveling - you can find Brian's family participating in just about any outdoor activity.
For Mick, freight transportation runs in the family. His grandfather, father, uncle, brother, and sons have all worked in the industry.
Mick began working for his uncle Norman G. Jensen in 1966, typing airway bills after school as a junior in high school. He continued in the industry and has since worked for and managed several large international freight logistics companies.
In 1996, Mick and his son Scott opened Specialty Cargo, Inc., continuing the family tradition. As CEO, Mick is involved with and provides leadership in all facets of freight forwarding. He actively manages many accounts and enjoys the day-to-day challenges of his work.
Outside of work, Mick is a family man. His 4 adult children and 11 grandchildren keep Mick and his wife busy on weekends with sporting events and family barbeques. When he isn't being Grandpa, Mick stays active riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, golfing, riding ATVs and skiing.
Randy started his career in Freight Logistics in 1971 in the Air Force as the freight logistics coordinator. Since his honorable discharge in 1977 Randy has continued to work in the freight logistics field ever since.
Randy has a true love and niche for perishable cargo. With over 40 years of experience, Randy specializes in the packaging and handling of perishable shipments both domestic and internationally for some of the largest seafood companies in the Northwest. He has helped Specialty Cargo more than double its growth since 2005 when he started.
When Randy isn't packing or shipping fish, he is actively involved in the Scottish community in the Pacific Northwest playing drums in a local Bagpipe Band based in Olympia with his wife. Randy has 2 sons and 4 grandchildren that he loves to spoil and then send home to mom and dad.
Scott began working for his dad, Mick, as an airport runner after graduating high school in 1989. Soon after, he worked for another company building signs. However Scott found he couldn't leave the freight logistics industry and opened Specialty Cargo with his dad in 1996. Today, Scott oversees the whole company from accounting, to sales and marketing, to customer relations.
Outside of work, you can find Scott at one of his three daughter's sports practices or games. He and his wife are heavily involved at their church with high school ministries, and they also assist in planning the winter and summer high school camps.
