Cosimo Durante

Biography Cosimo Durante is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Rome Sapienza, Rome, Italy. He received his MD and residency/PhD training in Endocrinology at the University of Rome Sapienza. He trained at the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Endocrine Oncology of the Gustave Roussy Institute, Villejuif, France. Dr. Durante's clinical and research interests are focused on thyroid tumors management, including both benign and malignant neoplasms. He has demonstrated record of successful and productive research projects to more personalized thyroid nodule and thyroid cancer follow-up strategies. On this horizon there is his contribution to the preparation of the European and American guidelines on the management of benign and malignant thyroid tumors.

Endre V. Nagy

Professor Endre Nagy received his medical degree from University of Debrecen, Hungary. After the endocrine fellowship training in Debrecen, he joined the endocrine research team in Walter Reed Medical Center, Washington D.C. He has served as member of the Educational Committee of the ETA and the Surgical Task Force of the ATA. Currently he is chief of the Division of Endocrinology at the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Debrecen. His research focuses on the pathogenesis of autoimmune thyroid diseases, Graves' orbitopathy, iodine deficiency, thyroid nodules and cancer, and the utilization of new nuclear imaging techniques in endocrinology. He has published more than 100 research papers and is one of the authors of the Krakow Declaration on Iodine.

Fernando Schmitt

Biography Fernando Schmitt is Professor of Pathology at the University of Porto, Director of RISE (Clinical and Translational Research Network of the Medical Faculty) and Head of Molecular Pathology at IPATIMUP.Past-President of the International Society of Breast Pathology and General Secretary and President-elect of the International Academy of Cytology (IAC). He has authored more than 500 papers in peer-review journals, 33 book chapters and he is editor of 6 books.He is widely considered a world-leading expert in cytopathology and breast cancer.He was fellow at the Karolinska Medical Hospital, Sweden, and was Professor of Pathology at the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil and University of Toronto, Canada. He was also Director of the Department of Medicine at Laboratoire national de santé, Luxembourg. His research work is on breast cancer, with emphasis on molecular markers, therapeutic targets and mechanisms of resistance. In the last years, his research work has been dedicated to the study of molecular markers on cytological material.He serves as Editor in Chief of Pathobiology and Associate Editor of six major scientific journals and sits on the editorial board of many others. He is standing member of WHO-IAC Classification of Tumours. He has also been chair, president or scientific director of several major European, Portuguese and Brazilian scientific societies of pathology and cytology. He received the following prizes: Educator of the Year 2011 by the PSC, GOLDBLATT AWARD 2013 by the IAC and Dario Cruz 2018 from the Portuguese League Against Cancer for his career as researcher in breast cancer.

Rose Ngu

Biography Rose Ngu is a Consultant Maxillofacial Radiologist working at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, the London Bridge Hospital and The Portland Hospital, London. She is a member of the Guy's and St Thomas' and The London Bridge Hospital multidisciplinary head, neck and thyroid oncology teams which provide cancer services for South East London and a tertiary service for complex head and neck oncology and thyroid management. She has a dedicated ultrasound (US) practice and fine needle aspiration clinics with rapid on -site evaluation (ROSE) with consultant cytopathologist and providing over 1000 FNAs a year. She was the first radiologist to set up a combined US and cytology clinic at Guy's Hospital in 2007 and then 2010 at the London Bridge Hospital. This is a model that is now known to be the most successful and is widely accepted as the gold standard when it comes to diagnosing a head and neck lump. The clinic provides rapid access for the diagnosis of head and neck lumps and bumps, thyroid, parathyroid, intraoral cavity and salivary glands. She has a special interest in both adult and paediatric thyroid disease. She is a member of European Thyroid Association ( ETA) and is part of the working group in developing the ETA guidelines for Ultrasound Malignancy Risk Stratification of Thyroid Nodules in adults: The EU-TIRADS. This was published by the European Thyroid Association for the classification of thyroid nodules in 2018. This guidelines has now been accepted and used widely in Europe and worldwide. She works closely with Head and Neck- ENT & Maxillofacial; Endocrinology surgeons, Endocrinologists and Oral and Medical Physicians. She lectures world wide on ultrasound and runs a head and neck US course in London. She is the Chairman of trustees for the British Society of Dental Maxillofacial Radiology (BSDMFR), Treasurer for the European Academy of Dental Maxillofacial Radiology ( EADMFR) and president-elect of the International Association of Dental Maxillofacial Radiology ( IADMFR) 2025.
