Barry Condon

With more than 20 years experience, Barry's comprehensive abilities enable him to contribute across the various areas of a project from concept, design development and construction. He is passionate about solving the unique challenges presented with each brief and the constraints of a site to deliver a rewarding outcome for the client. Irish-trained, Barry graduated in 1998 and spent a formative period of professional development in Dublin during the height of Ireland's construction boom. With a desire to travel and gain further experience overseas, Barry worked for well known firms Cox Architects (Melbourne) and Architectus (Auckland) before settling in Wānaka and joining the Sarah Scott Architects team in 2005. Barry gained membership to the New Zealand Institute of Architects in 2009 and formed the partnership with Sarah in 2012. The name of the practice changed in 2016 to Condon Scott Architects. Barry is a professional member of the Designers Institute of New Zealand and was also a finalist in the Consultant category of the 2021 NZ Institute of Building Awards. In 2022, Barry was selected by the New Zealand Institute of Architects as the jury convenor for the 2022 NZIA Southern Architecture Awards.

Sarah Scott

With over 35 year's experience as a practicing architect, Sarah set up an architectural practice (Sarah Scott Architects) in Wānaka in 1988. Over this time she has worked on numerous projects all over New Zealand, but mostly in Wānaka, Queenstown and the lower South Island. Sarah has been extensively involved with community projects and mentoring of local high school students. Sarah was made a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Architects in 2013. In 2012, Sarah formed a partnership with her long-term colleague and friend, Barry Condon, creating Condon Scott Architects Ltd. They worked together as Directors for 9 years. In 2021, Sarah retired as a Director, continuing to work at Condon Scott Architects in a consultancy role, mentoring the architectural team and overseeing project and client management.
