David Allen

David started work in the construction industry in 1987 as a draughtsman in a multidisciplinary practice in central London. After three years David moved to a consultancy in West Malling working on public sector schemes. After several years at this practice David then moved to a Civil and Structural engineering group in Maidstone working on bridge assessments, public health works and listed buildings. He joined L+C in 1997. David obtained his degree in civil engineering on a part time day release basis, graduating in June 1996 going on with further postgraduate experience to become a Chartered Structural Engineer. He now concentrates on the design and evaluation of new and existing building and related structures especially Basement projects, institutional, temporary works and listed buildings. David became an associate of the firm in December 1999, and a Member in 2003. Areas of David's expertise and where he has recently offered advice are: Temporary works designs and checks for Contractors and Clients. Including detailing facade retention systems, demolition of multi-storey buildings and temporary propping for substantial excavations. Substantial residential developments in Chelsea, Hampstead, Fulham and Kensington, often including significant excavations for basement pools, accommodation and living space. Alterations and refurbishments to many restaurants, retail premises and offices mostly in Central London. Advice to Party Wall Surveyors. The refurbishment of many Churches and Church halls, including listed buildings. Structures affected by subsidence and settlement including sensitive advice on movement due to construction over burial grounds. Advice on the reconstruction of buildings damaged or destroyed by explosion. Advice on dangerous structures. Advice on historic structures including the Royal Courts of Justice, Marble Arch, Parliament Square, Trafalgar Square and various properties in Regent Street and Portland Place. David Woods

David graduated from Leeds University in 2007. He was first employed by Jenkins and Potter for 4 years and worked on a variety of projects in the residential, commercial, education and transport sectors. Following this he joined IDOM Merebrook Ltd, where he worked onsite at the £2 billion Heathrow T2a redevelopment and led the structural design of ancillary structures to the main terminal, as well as the builders' works package. He joined Cundall for a year prior to going travelling for 15 months. At Cundall he worked on numerous high-specification refurbishment and new build projects. On returning from travelling, David joined Fairhurst as a senior engineer and achieved numerous promotions to Technical Manager, as well as becoming a Chartered Member of Institute of Civil Engineers in his 4 years of employment. At Fairhurst he led the design of high-rise residential structures, as well as projects forming deep basements in Central London. In his 15-year career David has been responsible for structural design, from concept stage to post-construction, of numerous projects of varying scales, budgets, sectors, and materials. He has been responsible for coordinating designs with the various disciplines and delivered projects to Client specifications with an acute understanding to the principles of sustainability, best practice, and construction cost.

John Lucking

John graduated in Architectural Engineering at Leeds University in 1976. He then continued with research into the behavior of joints in steel structures, gaining a Ph.D. in 1980. Since then, John has worked in structural design consultancy, becoming a chartered structural engineer in 1984. He started the practice of Lucking & Clark with Mike Clark in 1987.

John McGranaghan

John graduated with a degree in Architectural Engineering from London South Bank University. Following his graduation, John joined Toorc Consulting in 2004 as a Trainee Graduate Structural Engineer. He stayed at Toorc Consulting for one year where he began to develop his structural design knowledge in steel, concrete, masonry and timber. In 2005 John joined Lewisford Consultants where he worked mainly in the residential sector ranging from the design of a single-storey extensions to large new build multi dwelling schemes. John joined L+C in January 2009, became an Associate in March 2014 and then a Member in April 2019. In 2018, John became a chartered member of the Institute of Structural Engineers. He has worked on a variety of complex permanent, temporary works and advisory works projects. These include high-end residential refurbishments, new build residential/commercial developments, double-storey basements, large scale commercial refurbishments and public sector commissions. Lekë joined L+C as an Associate in May 2008 and became a partner in April 2013. Based in London, Lekë has worked on a variety of projects in both the public and commercial sectors and he has been responsible for the delivery of a number of large projects.

Marc Exley MEng

Marc Graduated in 2015 with an integrated masters in Architectural Engineering from the University of Leeds. After graduating he started at Morph Structures as a Design Engineer, working his way up to Senior engineer before joining L+C in 2021. Having worked on a variety of projects, from small scale residential refurbishments to new build commercial projects throughout London and the South East, Marc developed a wide understanding of the built environment. The highlight at Morph Structures being the lead designer on a £13m new-build residential property which boasted exposed reinforced concrete for all external and internal walls and soffits. Since joining L+C as a Senior Project Engineer, Marc now works on both permanent and temporary works, particularly in the commercial sector. Recently Chartered, Marc became an Associate in 2022. Mark Duncombe

Mark Duncombe commenced his career in 1989 as a technician within the building structures department of a large established firm of consulting engineers based in London. After joining the London Borough of Bromley in 1991, Mark became involved in the inspection and assessment of highway related structures, and design and site supervision for bridge, culvert and retaining wall replacement projects. In 1994 he took up a position within a medium sized firm of consulting engineers and continued to develop his experience as a structural engineer working on both highway and building structures. Mark completed a four year degree course in civil engineering on a part time day release basis, graduating in June 1996. In 1999 Mark became a Chartered Structural Engineer. Mark has worked for Lucking & Clark since 1997 and became a partner of the firm in November 2001. Mark's areas of work include design of new buildings and related structures, evaluation and refurbishment of existing buildings, temporary works design and demolition advice. Sven Griesemann

Sven joined the German Armed Forces in 1993 where he became an Army Officer and Military Engineer. He studied Civil Engineering and Environmental Technology at the University of Federal Armed Forces in Munich specialising in Structural Engineering. He completed his studies in 2000 with the award of MEng (Hons). Sven gained his first engineering experience during his deployments to Kosovo and Afghanistan where in secondary function he assessed damaged buildings and structures for possible re-use. After leaving the army in 2005, Sven moved to the UK where he joined Bruce, Cufley & Partners Ltd, a small practise of Consulting Structural Engineers in Rochester, Kent. Sven was involved in a wide range of temporary and permanent works projects in London and the South East. In January 2013, Sven joined L+C as a Project Engineer and is currently involved in the structural design of permanent and temporary works projects. Victoria Butler

Victoria graduated with a degree in Civil & Structural Engineering from Queen's University, Canada in 2006. Her first job from university was working as a Graduate Coastal Engineer for Coastal Planning & Engineering in Boca Raton, Florida before moving to London in 2008. Victoria then joined AKT II, a design led structural engineering consultancy, as a Structural Design Engineer in June 2008 and gained a considerable amount of experience on both new build and refurbishment schemes working there for 8 years. She has worked on projects with many leading architects including a RIBA award winning Zaha Hadid scheme at Oxford University. Victoria became Chartered with the Institute of Structural Engineers in 2014 and progressed to a Senior Structural Engineer position prior to being promoted to an Associate in 2018. Victoria's experience includes leading projects from scheme design to completion in education, commercial, residential, retail and international projects with project values up to £200 million. Victoria commenced her career at L+C in September 2016 as a Senior Project Engineer. She is currently involved in the permanent works design of refurbishment schemes.
