Andreas Wolter has been directly elected to the Cologne City Council four times (2004, 2009, 2014 and 2020). Since his election by the city council in 2014, he has served as both a voluntary mayor and the deputy mayor of Cologne. The City of Cologne has been a member of Climate Alliance since 1993.
Wolter is particularly active in tackling climate change via solutions in the areas of energy production, agriculture and transport. As a member of the Supervisory Board of the local transport company (KVB), he is committed to climate protection and a transport transition towards more rail, bus, bicycle and foot traffic.
He is also strongly committed to climate justice: To protect the Amazon rainforests and indigenous lands, he has called for a reduction in the consumption of fossil fuels and a change in our mobility behaviour. He travelled to Ecuador and Peru in 2017 where he was confronted with the negative consequences of oil production and palm oil cultivation for so-called biofuels firsthand. These visits resulted in an official climate partnership between the city of Cologne and the Peruvian community of Yarinacocha.
Andreas Wolter was born in 1964 in Schleiden in the Eifel region of northwestern Germany. He lives in Cologne and has two daughters with his partner. When he is not acting as a mayor, he works as a business economist in the accounting department of a service company.

Marc Serra Solé was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain. A sociologist by training, he holds a degree in law, a master's in advocacy and has worked in various organisations defending social and environmental rights. In 2019, he was elected Councillor for Citizen Rights and Participation in the Barcelona City Council, a position he held until May 2023. During his mandate, he also served as Secretary General of the International Observatory on Participatory Democracy (IOPD) and worked to promote Barcelona's candidacy as a European Capital of Democracy, an honour with which the city was recognised in 2023/2024. Serra Solé is currently Deputy Area Chairman for Climate Action and Energy Transition as well as Deputy Councillor for Citizens' Participation in the Barcelona Provincial Council.

Matthias Nabholz was born and raised in Basel, Switzerland. In the 1990s, he studied environmental sciences at the ETH Zurich and then worked in various positions in the fields of disaster prevention as well as environmental and security planning. Nabholz left Switzerland in 2006 for South America on behalf of international cooperation. During his eight years there, he advised over 40 cities on environmental and energy issues. He has been back in Switzerland since 2014 and now heads the Department of Environment and Energy of the City of Basel. In this capacity, he is also chairman of the Swiss expert group on climate and the environment, to which Climate Alliance Switzerland also belongs.
