Aaron Spencer

Aaron began his career in the family business at a young age working in the field mowing and maintaining development sites. He spent his summers throughout college assisting the accounting and marketing teams. After graduating with a bachelor degree from Iowa State University in finance, Aaron began his career working in the family business full-time. Aaron has great knowledge of all aspects of the day to day business operations and big picture planning. Aaron is responsible for project bidding, budget creation, and site analysis. He keeps the day to day schedule of our land development projects on track for completion. Aaron works with the design and construction teams on implementation of project plans and is well-versed in the communication needs between the construction crews and city staff. From pre-construction meetings and site services coordination, to monitoring the project completion schedule, Aaron is able to use his passion for numbers to do statistical analysis in order to optimize the success of each development Landmark creates.

Michael Johnson - CFO

Michael provides strategic financial planning and oversight for Landmark Companies and its affiliates, specifically in terms of annual operating budget preparation for Landmark's main operating entities (Development and Brokerage); development project budget review, financial forecasts, and investor communications; and overseeing the day-to-day finances of Landmark and its growing number of affiliates (currently greater than 30). Prior to being named CFO, Michael was the Controller for Landmark Companies for four years. Michael brings five years of public accounting experience to Landmark. While obtaining his Bachelor's Degree at AIB College of business, he was employed by a local, West Des Moines CPA firm where he spent his early years as an Accounting Associate providing compilation and day-to-day accounting services to a wide variety of clients. The services provided, and clients and industries Michael worked with, varied in several respects - a very helpful precursor to the number and types of projects and clients Michael now works with across the industries covered by Landmark Companies and its affiliates. After sitting for and passing the CPA exam, Michael transitioned to the tax and audit department as a Staff Accountant. Michael has been directly involved in securing financing for nearly 50 phases of 19 various projects, ranging from simple land purchases and long-term land hold note refinancing, to commercial construction and land development loans, to business start-up and operating financing. In securing over $120 million of bank financing over the past seven years, Michael has fostered relationships with numerous local banks and bankers that we believe allows Landmark to offer clients attractive loan terms for their specific projects. Michael has been indirectly involved in securing an additional $30 million of bank financing for projects where Landmark Development has acted as a consultant for numerous landowners, covering more than 20 phases over a handful of various projects. Michael brings a vast knowledge of the construction industry to his job as CFO, helping to understand more than "just the numbers" on both construction and development projects. The son of a small town residential contractor, Michael has been around residential construction for as long as he can remember, helping him understand the process and teamwork required to make projects come to fruition. Michael is a past member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants. Michael resides in Johnston, with his wife and four young children (and two dogs).

Mike Bonnett

Mike has been in the commercial real estate business since 2013. He has represented a portfolio of over 6 million sq./ft of land, office, warehouse, flex, and retail space. As a previous small business owner in the Des Moines metro, his personal experience has allowed him to guide his clients through the leasing/sales process with their point of view in mind. In addition, with over 15 years of prior experience in the logistics industry, he has worked with a variety of clientele. Mike's concern for a business owner's success makes him a great Broker. Mike graduated from Iowa State University, is a board member of the Johnston Economic Development Corporation, a member of the Rotary Club of West Polk County, a Grimes Chamber member, and a licensed broker in the State of Iowa.

Stephanie Rice - COO

Stephanie is the COO of Landmark Companies and a licensed Broker Associate with Landmark Brokerage, Inc. She joined Landmark in January of 2017. Her responsibilities include residential lot and commercial parcel sales, business development for all companies within Landmark, and oversees day to day business activities for the company . Prior to joining Landmark, Stephanie had a successful sales and marketing career in the advertising industry for 25 years. A 1993 graduate of Iowa State University, Stephanie earned a degree in Liberal Arts & Sciences, majoring in Journalism & Mass Communication. She is a member of The Home Builders Association of Greater Des Moines, CREW Iowa, The Iowa Commercial Real Estate Association, and the Urbandale, West Des Moines, and Waukee Chambers of Commerce.

William B. Spencer - CEO, President

Bill is President and CEO of Landmark Companies, Inc. Landmark was founded in May 2008 as a land development company. As President, he is responsible for the leadership, direction and overall performance of the company. Over the years, Landmark has grown into a multi-discipline company, providing development, brokerage, and other miscellaneous services. Bill oversees all services to ensure the ultimate satisfaction of Landmark clients. Bill has over 33 years of experience in Development and Construction Management. He brings extensive expertise in site-selection analysis, planning, design and construction management for commercial and residential developments of all types (office, flex, warehouse, retail, medical, single-family residential, multi-family residential and mixed use). He has been responsible for or involved in over 80 commercial and residential development projects which total over 3.5 million square feet of commercial developments at a cost of approximately $300 million dollars and numerous residential developments at a cost of approximately $135 million dollars. Additionally, Bill has developed extensive relationships with city officials, developers, brokers/agents, bankers, and property owners of development land throughout the greater Des Moines real estate market as well as throughout the state of Iowa. The consulting services provided by Landmark is based on our knowledge of the various local real estate markets and analyzing the opportunities that currently exist for our clients or could be created for our clients to meet their goals and objectives.
