Agnese is a senior associate at COBALT Latvia specializing in intellectual property, information technology law, cybersecurity and privacy matters. Agnese is Latvian Trademark Attorney and European Trademark Attorney licensed to represent before the Latvian Patent Office and European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
Agnese is a qualified New York (USA) attorney. Agnese is a member of the International Trademark Association (the Internet Committee for the 2022-2023 term and the Trade Secrets Committee for the 2024-2025 term) and the Latvian Patent Attorney Association. Agnese is a recipient of the 2021 INTA Tomorrow's Leader Award. She is also a recipient of a prestigious Fulbright scholarship to study law in the United States.
Agnese graduated with a LL.M. in Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law from Fordham University Law School in New York City. She has an LL.M. with merit in International Law and European Law and a LL.B with merit in Law and Diplomacy, both from Riga Graduate School of Law in Latvia.

Aivar Taro is a Partner at COBALT and head of the fields of real estate, construction and energy. Aivar has long-term experience in large-scale real estate transactions with both domestic and international companies, including the acquisition and sale of commercial, industrial and other types of real estate as well as development projects. He also has extensive experience in advising real estate developments, which renders him able to offer valuable counsel to clients during the entire course of the development process, including the planning procedure, construction process, matters pertaining to lease, financing, and the completion of the project. Aivar has participated in advising numerous lease transactions, including sale and leaseback transactions, leasing build to suit lease objects and managing the lease portfolios of shopping centres. He additionally has impressive experience in the energy sector, including advising renewable energy projects, acquisition transactions of energy companies and projects for creating new generation capacity. Some of his works include advising the sale of the Baltic real estate portfolio of Geneba Properties N.V to Laurus S.a.r.l, development and sale of Mustamäe Centre to East Capital, acquisition of Solaris and Bauhof by Partners Group, and advising Nelja Energia, the leading renewable energy company in the Baltics, upon the acquisition, construction and operation of various wind farms.

Andrius Kazlauskas is a Specialist Counsel at Real Estate and Infrastructure Practice Group. Andrius holds a Master‘s degree in Civil Engineering from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Vilnius Tech) and a Master‘s degree in Construction Law & Dispute Resolution from Kings's College London.
Prior to joining COBALT team, Andrius worked for one of the biggest transport infrastructure construction companies in the Baltics for nine years. During his career, Andrius contributed to the successful implementation of complex construction projects in Lithuania.

Anette Jaani works as an Assistant Lawyer at COBALT Estonia. Anette supports our dispute resolution associates in their everyday work.
Anette has a master´s degree from the University of Tartu's Law Faculty. Before joining COBALT, she gained practical experience with our public procurement practice.
During her studies, Anette won first place in Kirjutuslahing writing competition organized by ELSA and COBALT. In addition, her written work was nominated as the best in the Estonian Moot Court Competition (2020/2021).

Anna Daniel, a Junior Associate with COBALT Estonia, supports senior associates in the fields of banking and finance.
Anna holds a Master's degree from the University of Tartu's Law Faculty. She gained professional experience from completing an internship in the Estonian court system. Before joining COBALT, Anna worked as a lawyer at another law firm, focusing on the fields of data protection, corporate law, and transactions.

Anna Kosar, a Patent Attorney and Senior Associate at COBALT, has been an Estonian patent attorney in the field of trade marks, industrial designs, and geographical indications since 2012. She has been the official representative of the European Union Intellectual Property Office in the field of trade marks and industrial designs since 2015.
Anna has extensive knowledge in the field of intellectual property as well as data protection. Before joining COBALT, she worked as a patent attorney at Koitel Patent & Trademark Agency, and then as a legal counsel at a firm practicing commercial law. Anna has been engaged in legal protection related to copyright, registration of trade marks and industrial designs, and related procedures (renewals of the term of legal protection, transfers, pledges, licensing, etc.). She has also represented clients before the Estonian Industrial Property Board of Appeal, in court proceedings, before the Domain Disputes Committee, and at the European Union Intellectual Property Office in relation to trade mark disputes. In addition, she has represented clients in connection with seizure of suspected goods by the Estonian Tax and Customs Board.
In terms of data protection, Anna has been counselling clients in various business sectors since 2017. She has also acted as a data protection officer for some clients. She has also, for example, represented clients before the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate and the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman.

Anna-Riin Brett is an Associate at COBALT. She is specialized in the field of dispute resolution.
Anna-Riin holds a Master of Arts in Social Sciences degree from the University of Tartu. Prior to joining COBALT, Anna-Riin completed internships in a financial institution. Additionally, she has successfully participated in a moot court competition hosted by the Estonian Moot Court Society, where she reached the finals, and later joining the organizing team for the same event held in 2019. Anna-Riin has been a director of ELSA4Schools and was also a member of the European Law Students' Association. As a student, she contributed to the legal awareness of young people through ELSA4Schools program and gave lectures in secondary schools.

Annika Peetsalu (former Jaanson) is the Managing Associate and co-head of COBALT's Estonian restructuring and insolvency and arbitration practice area, being one of the most experienced professionals in the field.
She has advised companies who are undergoing reorganization and creditors in different complex insolvency proceedings in recovering their claims. Annika further advises companies in complicated economic disputes in national courts and both in national and international arbitration courts.
Annika's work in advising distressed companies has helped to turn around businesses of national importance and save jobs. Her work has influenced the legal practice in the field of insolvency law, helping to interpret the law and trigger amendments in the legislation.
In addition, Annika has experience working in the position of Head of Legal at an international fintech company, advising mainly some of the group's foreign subsidiaries.
Additionally, she was a member of the Estonian Bar Association's Insolvency Committee from 2020 to 2023.

He obtained a master's degree in law from the Faculty of Law of Vilnius University and studied at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. Prior to joining the COBALT team, Augustinas worked for seven years at an international law firm advising foreign capital companies and investors.

Aurelija Balčiūnė is a Specialist Counsel at the Banking and Finance Practice Group. She has over 12 years of legal experience. Her main areas of expertise include compliance, anti-money laundering (AML), financial regulatory and structured-finance. Aurelija has extensive experience in AML matters and has counselled international and local banks, fintech and other companies on AML and compliance issues. Her professional interest also covers aviation and aircraft finance which originates from her previous work experience at an aviation group of companies and the Civil Aviation Administration.
Aurelija Balčiūnė is a legal counsel with a business-driven mindset. During her legal practice, Aurelija has counselled international and local banks and companies on various regulatory and compliance matters, participated in the most renown market deals and M&A transactions, acquisition of large-scale debt portfolios and structured financing transactions. She regularly upgrades her knowledge on AML matters by participating in international conferences and events and is a regular speaker and lecturer on the AML topic.
Her most significant deals include advising DNB on the creation of Luminor (the largest ever transaction in the Baltic banking market) and acting for Citibank on a EUR 930m senior and mezzanine financing to Technopolis Group (one of the largest financing transactions).
