He began his career appearing on a daily basis in the Magistrates and County Courts undertaking a mix of criminal and family cases. He acted in a number of complex criminal cases to include one that featured in an hour-long Crime Watch special. He was one of the first group of solicitors to be accredited to the Specialist Children's panel following the introduction of the Children Act in 1989 and as a result, specialised in this demanding work for several years appearing regularly for the child, local authority and the parents in the Magistrates, County and High Courts. Following numerous cuts to the Legal Aid budget, Jim focused on developing the Personal Injury Department, where he secured what was then the highest award (may still be) for a work-related upper limb injury for a local secretary. Jim also specialised in multi-track cases particularly those involving a fatality or a life-changing orthopaedic injury and secured several settlements that exceeded £1 million. Jim became Geoffrey Leaver's Senior Partner on the 1st October 2008 and remained in the role for the next 9/10 years dividing his time equally between managing the firm and carrying out fee-earning work. During this period, he began undertaking contested probate cases, trust disputes and Court of Protection work. Jim is a qualified Higher Courts Advocate (Civil Proceedings) and an Associate Member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS). Sam prides himself in not only obtaining the best results for his client's in terms of their compensation but also in getting them a head start with the best rehabilitation and treatment. He works closely with insurers, health professionals and case managers ensuring the road to recovery is as beneficial and effective as it can be. Sam's view is that rehabilitation is a key part to any claim; no one wants to get injured but when they do it is important they receive the best treatment available. Sam is not afraid to pursue difficult or complex cases and vastly enjoys the challenges of litigation and taking claims to Court. He has developed strong networks in Milton Keynes, Northampton and London area but also represents clients nationwide. Interests Outside of work Sam spends his time with his family, two young children and friends. Sam enjoys playing football and is a member of local teams in both Milton Keynes and Northampton. Sam attempts to keep a sense of adventure, supporting Willen Hospice with a 127 meter abseil down Northampton lift tower.

There is little he enjoys more than getting to grips with knotty or unusual property matters and using his practical and pragmatic skills to translate complex issues to clients. He recently joined Geoffrey Leaver as a consultant having been a senior partner at a firm in Bedford. Interests Outside the office Simon enjoys music and musical theatre, having been a Trustee and occasional performer at the Sharnbrook Mill Theatre for many years.
