Amy B. Cyr

Dr. Cyr joined Casco Bay EyeCare in the fall of 2021 after five years of practice in Bangor, Maine. She received her doctorate from the New England College of Optometry where she completed a Cornea and Contact Lens residency. In addition, she is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a member of the Maine Optometric Association. Dr. Cyr provides comprehensive eye care with a focus on contact lenses. She has expertise in fitting a variety of specialty contact lens designs including rigid gas permeable (RGPs), hybrid and scleral lenses. She has a special interest in fitting lenses for patients with irregular corneas like keratoconus. Specialty contact lenses can often work for patients for whom traditional glasses and contact lenses do not provide optimal vision. Originally from northeast Ohio, she now resides in in Saco where, when not cooking and kayaking, she enjoys hiking with her optometrist husband and their dog, Granger.

Katherine D. Nickerson

Dr. Nickerson joined Casco Bay EyeCare in 2016 after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Maine in 2011 and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry, where she received the College of Optometrists in Vision Development award for her performance in vision therapy. She has been working in the field of optometry since age seventeen in positions ranging from receptionist to optometric technician, to optician, and finally optometrist. Dr. Nickerson's clinical rotations included VA Maine Healthcare System at Togus, vision therapy training at the New England Eye Institute, medical pediatrics at the Boston Medical Center, and primary care at the Dorchester Community Health Center. Following graduation, she began her primary care and ocular disease residency at the VA Maine, seeing patients at the Bangor and Togus locations. Dr. Nickerson's interests include pediatric optometry and binocular vision management as well as diagnosing and managing conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma diabetic eye disease, and dry eye. Dr. Nickerson enjoys providing comprehension vision care to patients of all ages. Dr. Nickerson is a proud native of Aroostook County. She enjoys traveling, running, hiking, singing, photography, and spending time with family and friends.

Kyle S. Benner

Dr. Benner began his practice of optometry in 2008 after receiving his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Florida. Dr. Benner is an honors graduate of UMass Amherst with a Bachelor of Science in microbiology. He is a member and former board member of the International Optometric Honor Society, Beta Sigma Kappa and is certified by the American Board of Optometry. Dr. Benner's clinical rotations included glaucoma diagnosis and management at Nova Southeastern Glaucoma Clinic as well as rotations in primary care/low vision, contact lenses and strabismus/amblyopia. He also completed training at Lake Mary Eye Care and the Ft. Lauderdale Eye Institute. Dr. Benner received the Millroy Optometric Scholarship Award for excellence in primary care. Originally from Friendship, Maine, Dr. Benner keeps his lobstering license current and enjoys golf, basketball, snowboarding, fishing, hunting and travel. He lives in the Greater Portland area with his wife and two daughters.

Michael P. Anastasio

Dr. Anastasio has practiced optometry in Portland since beginning his practice in 1987 with Dr. Timothy Tolford. From 1989 through 1994, in addition to his private practice, he was a staff optometrist at Martin's Point Health Care. Dr. Anastasio graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry, where he was a member of the International Optometric Honor Society, Beta Sigma Kappa. Dr. Anastasio has served as a preceptor for the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine and a number of optometric colleges and is currently an adjunct professor in the UNE Physician Assistant Program. He is a past member of the Maine Optometric Association (MOA) Board of Directors, a member of the American Optometric Association and a past president of the Maine Vision Service Plan. A native of Rumford, Maine, he lives in Scarborough. Dr. Anastasio and his wife enjoy staying fit and active while exploring the great state of Maine and beyond.

Robert W. Banglmaier

Dr. Banglmaier has practiced optometry since 1996. His professional training includes internships at the VA Medical Center in San Francisco and at Omni Eye Specialists in Denver, where the emphasis was on ocular diseases. He has been awarded the Beta Sigma Kappa Certificate of Achievement, a National Eye Institute Predoctoral Research Fellowship, the Raymond G. Schneider Scholarship, the Joseph R. Flower Scholarship, and a University of Toronto Open Masters Fellowship. Dr. Banglmaier received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California at Berkeley School of Optometry after graduating from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Maine Optometric Association. Dr. Banglmaier and his family reside in Kennebunk. He enjoys skiing, golfing and occasionally fishing.

Sian E. Liem

Dr. Liem has been practicing optometry since 1996. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry after graduating from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in physiology and pharmacology, and a Master of Science in microbiology. A Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, Dr. Liem has published articles in a number of professional journals. Her awards and recognition include the Beta Sigma Kappa Certificate of Achievement, a National Eye Institute Predoctoral Research Fellowship, and a University of Toronto Open Master's Fellowship. She did rotations at the San Francisco VA, Bedford MA VA, East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, and served as preceptor for the Home Eye Service of the New England College of Optometry. Dr. Liem enjoys skiing, hiking, paddle boarding, and knitting. She resides in Kennebunk with her husband, two daughters, two dogs, and a cat.

Steven A. Goldstein

Dr. Goldstein has been practicing optometry since 1983, beginning as a chief of optometry and optometrist in the U.S. Army. He began his private practice of optometry in 1987. Dr. Goldstein has participated extensively in clinical research and has served as a consultant to many contact lens and pharmaceutical manufacturers, including Alcon, Bausch & Lomb, Ciba Vision Care and Polymer Technology. He has developed interest and expertise in the field of fitting specialty contact lenses to restore vision to people with damaged or diseased corneas, such as those with keratoconus, past surgery or scar tissue. He is a past president of the Maine Optometric Association and has received the Optometric Recognition Award from the American Optometric Association. A veteran of Desert Storm, Dr. Goldstein has also received the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Meritorious Service Medal. Dr. Goldstein received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry after graduating from UMass Amherst with a Bachelor of Science.

Timothy A. Kearins

Dr. Kearins began practicing optometry in 2007 after receiving his Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry. He received his Bachelor of Science in biology from Gettysburg College. Dr. Kearins completed an internship in pediatric optometry and vision therapy at SUNY, as well as an internship in ocular disease at East New York Diagnostic & Treatment Center. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, the Optometric Extension Program Foundation, the International Optometric Honor Society, Beta Sigma Kappa, and is a past president of the Maine Optometric Association. He has been very active in the legislative healthcare arena, advocating both in Augusta and on Capitol Hill for improved access and quality of primary eye care for Maine citizens. In addition to primary eye care and the treatment of ocular disease, Dr. Kearins specializes in developmental optometry, binocular vision disorders, neuro-optometric rehabilitation and vision therapy. When not in the office helping patients, he enjoys spending time with his family, baking, making "dad jokes" and playing modern board games. He resides in Cumberland Center, where he and his wife are raising their two children.
