Job Titles:
  • of Counsel
  • Chairman of Our Government Relations
Alexis Glascock is chair of our Government Relations and Regulatory practice group, where she focuses on assisting businesses and associations to achieve their goals by advocating for or opposing changes to laws at the Legislature, agency, county and municipal level. Alexis has worked in both private practice and in senior staff positions in state government. She has served both as counsel to the President of the Arizona Senate and Assistant to the General Counsel of the Legislative Council. She effectively drafted and ensured the passage of complex legislation and was instrumental in halting or modifying legislation contrary to the interest of the majority caucus. Additionally, Alexis garnered experience at the federal level during her tenure with the majority leadership of the Joint Economic Committee of the United States Congress. In that role, she selected witnesses to testify before the Committee on numerous economic issues and published a three volume series on the economic impact of women in the labor market. She also assisted with the annual Economic Report of the Joint Economic Committee. Alexis has lobbied for clients including the American Heart Association, the Arthritis Foundation, the Arizona Association of Health Care Plans, the Arizona Cardinals, the Arizona Uniform Laws Commission, and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council. She also has successfully assisted with the passage of bills in industries ranging from trucking to trampolines. Away from work, Alexis spends time with her family, whether it's watching her children play sports, participating in family sporting activities or simply enjoying weekends together watching movies. Amara is currently general counsel to various transportation agencies and Geologic Hazard Abatement Districts (GHADs). Prior to private practice, Amara served as assistant city attorney for two Bay Area cities, where she advised officials and staff on matters including the California Public Records Act, the Ralph M. Brown Act, public finance and contracts, solid waste, risk management and conflicts of interest, First Amendment, and redevelopment. She drafted the state's first comprehensive no-smoking ordinance, which banned smoking in the workplace (including bars and restaurants), cigarette vending machines, and smoking in multi-family housing units, an action followed by jurisdictions around the country. Valued by clients for her responsive, determined, pragmatic style, she was named "Woman of Influence" by Globe Street Real Estate in 2019. Amara was also honored as one of San Francisco Business Times' "Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business" in 2020. Amy Abdo

Job Titles:
  • Director
A seasoned trial attorney, Amy represents leading law firms and attorneys in the defense of professional liability claims, drawing upon her substantial courtroom experience. Amy brings a results-oriented commitment to every matter from day one. Her approach is pragmatic, strategic, organized and efficient. Adept at leading legal teams, she has wide-ranging experience in business litigation, professional liability defense, employment law, public records law, and complex e-discovery issues. Amy is licensed to practice in Arizona, Nevada and California. She is experienced in all phases of litigation including bench and jury trials, arbitration, mediation, administrative proceedings and investigations. Amy represents businesses in complex commercial matters, and she frequently litigates covenants not to compete and other restrictive covenants, often in compressed evidentiary proceedings. She defends employers against discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, wrongful discharge and employment-related tort claims. Amy counsels employers on personnel policies, investigations, and related employment issues, including offer letters, executive employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, separation agreements, confidentiality agreements, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements. Amy represents businesses in litigation arising under Arizona's public records law. She also counsels litigants on e-discovery matters, including document management, preservation, litigation holds, document analysis and discovery of electronically stored information. Following nomination by her fellow partners, Amy served for several years on the firm's management committee. A natural leader, she made the difficult decision to rotate off management in 2018 to more narrowly focus her talents on her first passion, serving her clients. Education J.D., University of San Diego School of Law B.S., with distinction, San Diego State University

Andrea L. Marconi

Job Titles:
  • Director
Andrea Marconi is an experienced litigator and serves as a vice chair of the firm's business litigation practice group. Her broad spectrum of work encompasses many areas, including complex commercial litigation, franchise litigation and banking issues such as payment processing, credit card processing and ACH transactions. In addition, Andrea has experience with entities throughout the healthcare industry, including representing health insurers and medical billing companies in numerous matters such as coverage issues, regulatory and compliance matters, and defense of bad faith claims. Routinely arbitrating and contesting cases in state and federal courts around the country, she also has extensive experience litigating a wide array of real estate contract disputes, insurance coverage and indemnity matters, restrictive covenants, and trade secret litigation. Although she did not come from a family of attorneys, Andrea knew early on her calling was to be an attorney. She has always loved analyzing problems, persuading others as to her opinion on the facts and arguing with her father - and often winning - at the kitchen table. As a business litigation attorney, she now advises a diverse group of clients, including individuals, small and mid-sized businesses, and Fortune 500 companies. She litigates disputes from start to finish - and often resolves these cases before they need to be addressed in the courthouse. She continues to study the art and science of disagreements, and how to best solve them, which is often conducive to long-term relationships with her clients. She frequently takes the role of outside general counsel, looking at ways of avoiding ambiguity that could lead to costly disputes in the future. While not afraid to fight when necessary, Andrea's approach throughout her career as a business litigation attorney has been to learn her clients' business inside and out, understanding critical issues and proactively handling any problems in an efficient and cost-effective manner. When not litigating, Andrea is probably volunteering in the community. Her passion for animal welfare is showcased in her efforts as the chair of the Arizona Humane Society's board of directors, and her enthusiasm for hoops is evidenced by her seat on the Phoenix Suns Charities 88 Big Gorilla board of directors. Her two sons are her pride and joy, and her weekends are spent at their numerous basketball and soccer events. Education J.D. Arizona State University, Sandra Day O?onnor College of Law B.A., Political Science, Sociology University of Arizona

Anthony W. Austin

Job Titles:
  • Director
Anthony Austin is a prominent attorney in our financial restructuring, bankruptcy and creditors' rights practice group, where he works on matters including collection and judgment work, breach of contract, partnership disputes and receiverships. He represents financial institutions, debtors, creditors, and trustees in all phases of complex litigation and restructuring transactions, including trials and appeals. As an experienced bankruptcy attorney, Anthony has a wide range of commercial litigation experience involving foreclosures, receiverships and guarantor litigation. His experience as a bankruptcy attorney has him representing clients at trial and various types of hearings before the Bankruptcy Court, District Court, and Arizona Supreme Court. He is also adept at litigation matters involving the rapidly evolving cannabis industry and partnered on a precedent-setting bankruptcy case involving marijuana investors and distributors. Growing up near the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona, where his dad was a park ranger who helped open Kartchner Caverns to the public, Anthony has always had a great love for Arizona - and helping people - and knew from an early age he wanted to be a lawyer. These passions shape his view of his civil practice to this day where selling and merging companies really means saving jobs, keeping companies open, and maintaining the legacy of small business owners and their jobs that support hundreds of family members. Outside his work as a debt attorney, Anthony loves spending time in the great outdoors with his wife and three kids, exploring and camping in areas like Prescott, Cottonwood, Show Low, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and the Carlsbad Caverns. Although he is a lifelong Cubs fan and grew up listening to Harry Caray on WGN Radio, his love for baseball carried into the Southwest, and he now often enjoys a cold beer with a hot dog at Arizona Diamondbacks games. Education J.D., cum laude, University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law B.S., summa cum laude, Political Science, Northern Arizona University
