Arif Ahmed is Associate Dean at the Henry W. Bloch School of Management and is the Department Chair for Public Affairs. He also has a courtesy faculty appointment at the UMKC School of Dentistry. He is also faculty coordinator for the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in public affairs and administration in the Bloch School.Dr. Ahmed's primary research interest is in non-monetary determinants of access and utilization of health care. His current research agenda focuses on cost, quality, and outcome characteristics of alternative health care delivery models, and the policy implications of distribution and patterns of dental diseases and care needs. His research has appeared in preeminent medical and public health journals including Annals of Family Medicine, Public Health Reports, Journal of Public Health Dentistry, Medical Decision Making, and Nursing Research, and he has made numerous research presentations at national and international academic conferences. He also leads two acclaimed executive education programs at the Bloch School - the Cerner Certificate in Healthcare Leadership and the Physician Leadership Program. He routinely provides expert commentary on health policy issues to the print and electronic media.

Bea Bohrer oversees compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and related accessibility regulations to ensure that employees and applicants with disabilities have equal access to employment opportunities, workplace accommodations, and all other benefits and services. She also facilitates employees' reasonable accommodations based on religion or pregnancy/pregnancy-related conditions. Bea works closely with HR, facilities, and other departments to create and maintain an inclusive and accessible environment, and provides training on disability in the workplace and other accessibility related topics.

Bryan Boots serves as Associate Teaching Professor with the Bloch School of Management, and Managing Director for Applied Research on entrepreneurship with the Regnier Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation. In his time at UMKC, Bryan has coached and mentored hundreds of rising entrepreneurs in the Kansas City region and beyond.
He teaches classes on product development, technology entrepreneurship, and technology management, among others. Bryan also leads the Regnier Institute's portfolio of applied research into entrepreneurship and innovation. This new initiative is aimed at helping university-based entrepreneurship centers, entrepreneurship support organizations, startups, and entrepreneurial ecosystems to better understand the forces driving or inhibiting entrepreneurial activity. This includes five pillars: better understanding goals and motivations of entrepreneurially-minded students; better understanding the role of mentors and mentorship in the entrepreneurial development process; better understanding university-based entrepreneurship programs and centers; better understanding entrepreneurial networks and entrepreneurial ecosystems; and sponsored research with regional startups or innovation-driven corporations. Previously, Bryan led the Regnier Institute's portfolio of Venture Creation programs, which includes the Entrepreneurship Scholars (E-Scholars) program, competitions, mentorship programs, and technology commercialization.
Bryan has started his own ventures, has worked as an employee or consultant with startups, and worked in product development with Garmin. His most recent venture, Growth Map Consulting Group, helps organizations identify and implement opportunities for innovating in their industries.

Accountable for the fiduciary matters of the board, including management of the endowments, the restricted funds and the finances associated with the UMKC Trustees' real estate program. Approves and manages the annual Trustees' operations budget and advises the board on all budgetary matters. Oversees and manages Board-owned properties, including the purchase of new property and maintenance and sales.
Chris Roberts investigates complaints of discrimination and harassment based on an individual's protected identity and provides supportive measures for students, faculty, and staff who work with ETIX. Chris also provides training to UMKC departments and student organizations on Equity and Title IX, and serves as a designated investigator for other complaints of policy violations as needed. Chris serves on UMKC's CARE Team.

is an Associate Teaching Professor of Management at the Henry W. Bloch School of Management. She works with undergraduate and graduate students as a faculty member teaching business communication and as a co-advisor for the nationally ranked UMKC Enactus team, an organization where students complete social entrepreneurship projects on a global scale.
Erin holds a 2007 Masters in Communication and Rhetoric from the University of Kansas and a 2015 Graduate Certificate in Executive and Professional Coaching from the University of Texas at Dallas. She also earned a 2003 Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a Minor in History, from the University of Kansas.
Erin's teaching emphasis has included courses in communication theory, public speaking, effective business communication, innovation, and documentary film. She developed a business communication curriculum for the Bloch School and was the founding Director of the Bloch Communication Center from 2008 to 2018 - an academic center focused on polishing students' professional written and verbal communication. With a commitment to cross-campus collaboration, Erin has represented the Bloch School on the UMKC Faculty Senate and the University Writing and Reading Board. Erin serves as a faculty mentor for students in the Honors Program and has taught honors courses.
As a professional coach and speaker on communication topics, Erin has consulted with organizations large and small in the corporate, non-profit, health care, and government fields. She helps business leaders apply effective business communication strategies and tactics to real-world situations, such as managing the intergenerational workforce, the impacts of digital communication, effective client communication, personal branding for the job market, and high-stakes presentations.
Erin has presented her scholarly research at several regional and national conferences. Her scholarly papers and presentations have focused on campus engagement, social entrepreneurship education, public address, and political communication.

Joe Bartling serves as an Assistant Teaching Professor with the Bloch School of Management. Joe has been teaching Business Analytics in the Bloch School since 2019. Joe holds an MS in Predictive Analytics plus an Advanced Certificate in Data Science from Northwestern University. He also holds an MA in Economics from UMKC and a BS in Statistics/Mathematics (Phi Beta Kappa) from Colorado State University.
Joe is an experienced Data Scientist and Senior Business Leader with a 30+ year track record of using data and analytics to solve business problems and identify opportunities across various industries and internationally. In addition, he is very skilled at communicating complex results in a manner that is easily digestible and actionable by business partners and senior executives. KC Atchinson (she/her/hers) leads both the Office of Equity & Title IX (ETIX) and RISE: Resources, Intervention, Support, & Education. She works to ensure full campus compliance with our Equal Employment/Educational Opportunity and Nondiscrimination and Sexual Harassment under Title IX policies, overseeing the investigation and resolution processes for all complaints made to ETIX. She also works with Athletics to maintain compliance with the NCAA Board of Governors Policy on Campus Sexual Violence. In addition, KC provides regular consultation and training upon request to students, faculty, and staff across campus.

Pete Burney is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Henry W. Bloch School of Management.
He received his M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst and holds a B.S. in secondary education from Louisiana State University. He is a graduate of the Executive Development Program at The University of Tennessee.
His teaching interests are in the areas of operations and strategic supply chain management, organizational behavior, leadership effectiveness and executive education.
Pete's industry experience has included corporate officer roles as Senior Vice-President of Supply Chain and Business Enablement at Hallmark Cards, where he spent 25 years, and Vice-President of Diversity, Inclusion and Compliance at JE Dunn Construction Company. Pete served four years as a U.S. Army officer before his career in industry.

Projects and discussions are organized and activated that connect the expertise and influence of the trustees to campus-community issues.
