AWP - Key Persons

Alex Wozniczko

Job Titles:
  • Director
Yes it is Polish, but no I'm afraid I don't speak the language. My roots are actually in deepest Sussex, and after graduating from the University of Surrey I made the move to the south west where I now live in East Devon with my wife, young son and Humphrey (the Norfolk terrier).

Annabel Harris

Job Titles:
  • Principal Engineer
I studied at Cardiff University achieving a MEng in Civil Engineering in 2015. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Cardiff, I knew I always wanted to return and work in Devon, having grown up in Ivybridge. I was fortunate enough to start working at AWP almost immediately after leaving university, starting a few weeks even before my graduation! As part of the graduate training programme here at AWP, I have worked in four of the five teams across the office and am now settled into a detailed design team, where I have been for several years now. Outside of work, I enjoy creative hobbies and undertake many different crafts such as sewing. I also enjoy cooking and baking cakes which tend to go down very well in the office! I also like to spend time visiting Dartmoor and other local places, making the most of the area in which I live. Qualifications MEng (Hons) Civil Engineering

Ben Fenton

Job Titles:
  • Graduate Engineer
Before I went to University, I spent many long hours at the supermarket checkouts saving to travel through Nepal and India. I then went on to work three summers at a Salvation Army summer camp in Colorado, spending my pay on cross-country buses and deep-dish pizza.

Ben Green

Job Titles:
  • Technician
Having spent a few years in one of the Detailed Design teams, I am now working in the Flood Risk & Drainage Team and am enjoying the different aspects of the new challenge. I initially completed the BTEC Level 3 Construction and the Built Environment/Civil Engineering full time course at Exeter College and joined AWP as an apprentice in 2018. Having achieved my HNC with college a couple of years ago, I am looking to keep on developing my career in Civil Engineering. I am a huge rugby fan and have been playing on and off for a number of years for my local Rugby Club. I also love live music and enjoy going to different concerts around the country.

Byron Povey

Job Titles:
  • Apprentice Technician
I joined AWP on the 10 th of July 2023 as an Apprentice Technician as Civil Engineering has always interested me, and I am excited to be a part of the team. I went to Torquay Boys Grammar School, and I joined the school's rugby team and played in many matches and various tournaments where sometimes they were local or even some national ones including a tournament in London called ‘Roslyn Park 7s' where schools from across the country come to, private and comprehensive. It was one of the best experiences of my life.

Ceri Middleton

Job Titles:
  • Transport Planner
Having grown up in rural Herefordshire, I have always enjoyed being close to the countryside and nature. AWP is in my dream location, being so close to Dartmoor, the countryside and the coast! I studied BA Geography at UWE Bristol, with a placement year in the transport team at Bristol City Council. This was my first glimpse into the transport sector, and I have never looked back. I am now working in Alex's team, furthering my transport planning skills and learning new software, such as CAD. I am particularly interested in promoting the access and use of active and sustainable modes of transport. Beyond work, I like to go on adventures and spend as much time outside as possible. I'm a regular cyclist, with rides ranging from my commute into the office, to weekend bikepacking trips and longer adventures pedalling around countries. I'm also often found hiking up mountains and exploring Dartmoor (and wild camping!). When I'm not up a mountain, I enjoy cooking, baking, and learning new skills. The latest being learning how to crochet and play the concertina!

Chris Yalden - CTO

I joined the AWP team back in April 2013, becoming the 10th member of staff. Since that time the business has continued to go from strength to strength and it's great to be a part of the success story.

Craig Mason

Job Titles:
  • Associate
I have always lived and worked in and around Bridgwater / Taunton in Somerset but now find myself working out of the AWP Exeter office as a Transport Planning Associate following my move from Stantec in September ‘22. I have around sixteen years of experience to date having started out at Parsons Brinckerhoff in a Graduate role where I completed an MSc in Transport Planning and Engineering at Leeds University and also spent some time on secondment at Somerset County Council in the role of the county Travel Plan Co-ordinator. I then spent just shy of ten years working at Peter Brett Associates (now known as Stantec) in Taunton having progressed from Transport Planner to Associate level during that time. I was fortunate to gain some valuable experience working in project manager or transport planning lead roles on a range of projects undertaken for various public and private sector clients based in the southwest region. My specialism is in transport planning and my current role will involve supporting with the day-to-day management of the team and leading the Transport Assessment process that is required for supporting planning applications for a wide variety of development and infrastructure projects across residential, commercial, industrial and leisure sectors. This will involve providing initial access and feasibility advice, influencing site layouts, undertaking site accessibility assessments, demonstrating the transport impact of proposals through detailed analysis including traffic modelling, preparing technical reports to support planning submissions and liaising extensively with clients and fellow professionals. I am enjoying working closely and collaboratively with other members of the AWP team producing quality outputs on our exciting portfolio of projects. Away from work I am enjoying living in a small village on the edge of the Somerset Levels with my wife, two young boys and Maisie the crazy cocker spaniel as we have convenient access to open countryside providing excellent opportunities for hiking, running and cycling. We also try to spend as much time as possible holidaying in Cornwall where we can enjoy the wonderful coastline and catch up with other family members. When I'm not spending quality time with the rest of the family I can be found playing and watching football, partaking in running events, socialising with friends or progressing our house renovation which is slowly nearing completion as we enter year four (never again though!). Qualifications BSc Human Geography MSc Transport Planning and Engineering

Daisy Atkin

Job Titles:
  • Senior Transport Planner
Although I have firmly adopted Devon as my home, I actually grew up in the Netherlands and Switzerland. I am fluent in Dutch and terrible at French, apart from specialist cheese names. I graduated from the University of Exeter in 2013 with a degree in Geography, having spent 3 years colouring in maps and standing knee-deep in paleolithic bogs - whilst occasionally doing some academic work too. Coming from a geography background, working in a predominantly engineering environment is not something I ever thought would happen. However it turns out that there are very few careers which combine the niche interests of maps, trains and kerb types, so here we are. Over the years I've worked on many different projects across a variety of sectors, with each one presenting something new. I am particularly passionate about the role which good highways design plays in developing a sense of place - definitely influenced by my upbringing in the Netherlands! I am passionate about the role of Women in Engineering and use my outreach work as a STEM ambassador to encourage young women and girls to consider engineering as a career option. I do like to keep in touch with my geography roots though, and I head up the development and use of our Geographic Information Systems (GIS). It's not just pretty maps you know… I am most at home in the outdoors and feel incredibly lucky to have two gorgeous coastlines and two beautiful moors within (metaphorical) arm's reach. I love being out hiking, cycling on the quiet back lanes or tackling off-road trails on my mountain bike. I'm equally at home in and on the water, and spend a lot of my time either swimming in one of the many rivers or the sea, or kayaking to the pub on a Friday night. Not paddleboarding though. That didn't end well. When I'm not up a Tor or in a river, I'm usually to be found in my kitchen surrounded by cake ingredients and keep the rest of the office well fed with plenty of sweet treats. Away from baking, I am a stickler for the Oxford comma, and am also full of completely useless facts (which are quite useful during pub quizzes). I drink more tea than is good for me and still haven't finished knitting that jumper I started three years ago. Qualifications BSc (Hons)

Dan Hart

Job Titles:
  • Associate
I joined AWP in 2013 after spending time with both a small local firm and an international consultancy where I completed my apprenticeship and crafted my engineering and project management skills. Through my time at AWP, I have established a subdivision of the infrastructure delivery team which I lead to provide engineering input on projects from pre-planning to construction, across a variety of sectors including residential, commercial and retail. I love a good challenge, whether it's unpicking a tricky technical issues or thinking outside of the box to deliver unconventional highways, drainage and services provision which aid a development's overall vision. My energy is focussed into influencing large development masterplans with engineering solutions to ensure a scheme is as economic as possible but also puts placemaking at the forefront whilst considering construction costs and carbon emissions. There is always a solution you just have to find it...!
