UC Irvine's Division of Colon & Rectal Surgery is committed to providing the highest quality of care to our patients while utilizing state-of-the-art medical techniques. Our goal is to see all our new patients as soon as possible and to have a comprehensive treatment plan established at the first visit. Our faculty members have the greatest experience in robotic rectal surgery in the country and are skilled in laparoscopic procedures for the maximum benefit in the treatment of colorectal and small intestinal disorders. We are also the only center in Orange County offering cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for the treatment of peritoneal surface tumors. We have an active sacral nerve stimulator program to treat incontinence and can perform a variety of outpatient procedures such as colonoscopy and endorectal ultrasound. The disorders we treat include cancers of the colon, rectum and anus, as well as inflammatory bowel diseases (such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease). We also treat diverticulitis, rectal prolapse, fecal incontinence and other benign diseases of the colon, rectum and anus, including hemorrhoids and fistulas. We also perform complex re-operative procedures.

UC Irvine's Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery is committed to providing exemplary patient care with the most advanced technologies and innovative treatments based on our extensive clinical research program. We believe that many digestive disorders requiring surgical intervention are best treated with laparoscopic procedures, which involve keyhole incisions rather than a large open wound. Our skilled surgeons, who are adept at these minimally invasive surgical techniques, have demonstrated that our patients experience less post-operative pain, have a lower risk of infection, shorter hospital stays and a faster recovery.
