Angela Townsend

Angela Townsend has been in the vet field for over 20 years all over the country including Hawaii. Angela joined the AHCC team in 2009 and has been a wonderful asset. Angela has two beautiful boys. She has two Pointer mixes: Hank and Toby and a pug named Suzanne. Her special interests here are at the hospital are surgical assisting and inventory control. She also enjoys hiking, swimming, and spending time with her family.

Carrie Marshall

Carrie is a new member of the staff at Animal Health Care Center. She graduated from Southern New Hampshire University. Carrie and her husband have one beautiful daughter, Nevaeh. They also have one dog named Buster.

Connie Baber

Job Titles:

Connie Baber is one of the first people who will greet you here at Animal Health Care Center. She attended Roanoke College in Roanoke, Virginia. Connie gained experience in management while working for Moore's Lumber and Building Supply, a local building materials store. Connie's pet family includes 9 rescue dogs; Lucy, Cheyenne, Tucker, Luther, Jo Jo, Mr. Paddy, and Raskee, Ru and Benny. She also has 2 cats.

Daphne Pittman

Daphne is our office manager at AHCC. She also has extensive experience assisting our Doctors and working in the kennels. Daphne has been employed here for 9 years. She is married to a wonderful man named Joe and has 2 children, Emily and Joey. Her furry babies include two Boxers: Poppers and Penny. She is also experienced with ASL (American Sign Language) and Deaf Education. Her hobbies include spending time with her family, both children are in sports and drama, and making all kinds of crafts.

Dr. Heather Smith

Dr. Heather Smith was born in Rockville, MD. She received her Bachelors in Animal Poultry Science in 2009 from Virginia Tech and her DVM in 2013 from VMRCVM. Her special interests at work include exotic medicine, reproduction, and soft tissue surgery. She enjoys spending time with her husband Andrew, her step daughters Miley and Katie and her sons Alex and Carter. She has 3 dogs Lily, Lady, & Sampson. 2 cats Aries and Hermes personal interest include hiking, camping, and traveling. Dr. Smith is available for appointments on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and some Saturdays

Dr. John B Dunlap

Dr. Dunlap was born in Frederick, Maryland. He grew up on a 400 acre beef farm in Brownsburg, Virginia. Dr. Dunlap attended Virginia Tech for his undergrad work, he received his degree in Veterinary medicine from the University of Georgia in 1983. Dr. Dunlap has been working as a Vet in the Waynesboro area for over 23 years. In 1992 he opened the doors to his own practice & named it Animal Health Care Center. His special interests include: client education, surgery, vetscoping, ultrasound, & leadership skills. Dr. Dunlap's personal interests include: roller-blading, skiing, farming, building projects, & spending time with his family. He also enjoys coaching Little League football, baseball, and basketball. Dr. Dunlap is available by appointment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. He is in surgery on Wednesdays.

Dr. Kayla Eckard

Dr. Eckard is a recent addition to our team of doctors at Animal Health Care Center. She graduated from Wilson Memorial High School, Class of 2008. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal and Poultry Sciences with a Latin Minor in 2012, and she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, Class of 2017. Following graduation, Dr. Eckard worked as an Associate Veterinarian at Crab Orchard Veterinary Services in Tazewell, Virginia from 2017-2019. Dr. Eckard has 2 dogs; a German Shepherd named Hattie, and a Rottweiler named Phoenix.

Faith Stoutamyer

Faith is our newest licensed veterinary technician at Animal Health Care Center. She earned her credentials from Blue Ridge Community College, where she graduated as an LVT in the Class of 2019. Faith has a German Shepherd/Heeler mix named Paisley; a Border Collie/Golden Retriever mix named Fern, a Red Heeler named Scout, and an Australian Shepherd named Lacey.

Haley Artley

Haley has been with the Animal Health Care Center since July of 2018. She earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science in 2019 from Blue Ridge Community College, and she is a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Haley is the middle child between 2 sisters, and she has 2 cats named Nox and Roo.

Lindsay White

Lindsay joined the AHCC staff in April of 2012. Her pets include George (cat), Diamond, Smudge, and Annie, her Red Tick Hounds. In 2015, she received her Associate of Applied Science degree from the Veterinary Technology program at BRCC. In her spare time Lindsay enjoys cooking, reading, hiking, and spending time with her husband Jared and their pets.
