Rosie Elias

Rosie Elias is a paralegal for the law offices of Merkin & Shotland. As a Latin American native of Philadelphia, Rosie graduated from Thomas Edison High School and is bilingual in Spanish and English. Rosie has been in the legal field for over a decade. Rosie started her career as a receptionist/file clerk. Through hard work and dedication, Rosie began performing paralegal duties, which has allowed her room for advancement into the paralegal field.

Stacey M. Merkin

Stacey M. Merkin received a B.A. degree in Psychology from the University of Rochester in 1983. She matriculated into Temple School of Law (now known as Temple University Beasley School of Law) in 1985 and graduated in 1988. While at Temple, Ms. Merkin was on staff of the Temple Law Quarterly, now know as Temple Law Review. From 1988-1990, Ms. Merkin was an associate with the firm of Berger & Montague, P.C., which specializes in Class Action Litigation. Ms. Merkin moved to the firm of Margolis, Edelstein, Scherlis and Kraemer as an associate, practicing general liability litigation from 1990 through 1991; and specializing in workers' compensation from 1991- 1993. Ms. Merkin then became a Senior Trial Attorney with the Zurich American Insurance Company from 1993 through 1997, when she opened the firm with Hilary S. Cornell, Esquire. The firm was known as Cornell and Merkin, P.C. until 2006, when Ms. Cornell left the firm. The firm has since been renamed Merkin Shotland, P.C. Ms. Merkin is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and before the Eastern District and Third Circuit Court of Appeals; as well as the Supreme Court of the United States in the Federal Court System.

Susan K. Shotland

Susan K. Shotland is an associate with the firm and focuses her practice on Pennsylvania workers' compensation law. Prior to joining the firm, Mrs. Shotland was an associate with a firm handling claimant's workers' compensation cases in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Mrs. Shotland is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Susan K. Shotland earned her law degree, cum laude, from Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island where she was a member of the honors program. Mrs. Shotland earned her B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts where she majored in Political Science and Sociology.
