Catherine Bean

Catherine joined Element Properties in 2015 to help craft the company's strategy and manage development projects. She's overseen a range of projects, including the development of two permanent supportive housing projects, the conversion of more than 230 apartments from market rate to permanently affordable, the repositioning of a commercial building in Flatiron Park and the development of for-sale townhomes in downtown Boulder. Previously, she spent four years with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) where her responsibilities included managing FHA's Breaking Ground Program and overseeing and analyzing HUD's $13.6 billion share of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Prior to that, she worked for New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, managing multiple post-Katrina initiatives. Catherine gained her B.A. in history from the University of Virginia and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. She sits on the board of the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless and enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and dog, Huckleberry.

Chris Jacobs - Founder

With more than 20 years of experience in real estate investment and development, Chris leveraged his experience to co-found Element Properties with Scott in 2010. Chris helps oversee the principal side of the business including company strategy, operations oversite, project capitalization, and investor relations. Prior to starting Element Properties, Chris participated in the financing and management of a variety of ventures in real estate development as well as in the software, restaurant and clean tech industries. Before that, Chris worked as an analyst for Related Capital Company, at the time the nation's leading developer and syndicator of affordable housing, where he participated in the placement of more than $100 million in tax credit equity for affordable housing developments. Chris received his bachelor's degree in economics from Northwestern University. He serves on the board of trustees for Thorne Nature Experience. Chris enjoys mountain biking, trail running, and exploring places near and far with his family.

Christy Valentine

Christy joined Element Properties in 2014 and is responsible for all things accounting and finance for Element and it's related entities. With more than 15 years of experience analyzing financial reports, directing investment activities and developing strategies and plans for the long-term financial goals of various organizations, Christy is equipped with the skill set to oversee Element's financial health. Previously, she focused on financial analytics and data management at Platts, a division of the McGraw-Hill Companies. Christy's expertise allows her to provide strategic analyses for senior management to determine project and company profitability. In her spare time, Christy can be found playing in the outdoors with her husband, 3 kids and their menagerie of animals.
