The book was called Poisoning Our Children: Surviving in a Toxic World, by Nancy Sokol Green. (I know, crazy title, right?!) The author shared her journey with complex, chronic illness. Her doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with her, her husband thought she was going crazy, and she nearly lost all hope of feeling better... I didn't know then that I would be called to face this same challenge 20 years later, and that this challenge would define my future career. As a result of reading this book, I adopted an almost exclusively organic diet... As a person with a Master's Degree in complex systems theory, I wasn't interested in temporary, topical, or symptomatic solutions.
