Cynthia Blair

Job Titles:
  • Principal
Cynthia's journey into renovation design began in the 1990s in San Francisco when she purchased her first home. She'd found herself a fixer and out of necessity set out fixing -- tearing down walls, taking the kitchen down to the bones, restoring the subfloor of gorgeous 8" douglas fir planks, repairing plaster. Acting as her own designer and general contractor, she brought her 1880s home back to life, using period reproductions and antiques mixed with modern conveniences. It was then that she felt the difference living in a space that reflected her needs and affinities for layout and light and color and texture. She felt deeply at home. Throughout her careers in marketing, sustainability, and psychotherapy, Cynthia engaged in multiple renovations on personal properties, as well as for friends. She fell in love with the practice of re-imagining spaces, and sourcing the products and materials that make up the layers of paint on the home canvas. She took inspiration from her years overseas in England, Spain, and Africa to work in a variety of design languages -- from modern, contemporary, and transitional to traditional, rustic, and eclectic. Eventually (and inevitably) she gave in to her passion for the process and began taking design clients. Now, Cynthia helps homeowners tell their individual story through their home, in its overall feel and smallest detail.
