The pressure probe can be used mainly for analysing the physical and water management properties of soils suitable for agricultural production. The instrument is hand-operated, the mechanical resistance and moisture content of the soil can be recorded with its help. A screw-jack pressure unit is used to place the probe, ending in a steel cone, into the ground. The sensor's design enables it to send an electric signal proportional to the pressure exerted and moisture content in function of depth, upon penetrating the soil. The data logging unit of the apparatus makes direct readings, data sets and computer analysis of the results possible.
