Three business partners Peter Rogerson, Osvaldo "Ozzie" deRossi and David Bonney formed P.O.D Construction in June 1968. Work concentrated on major concrete projects as floor slabs for Nathan Plaza (now Stockland Shopping Centre), underground storm water drain from Hughes Street to Mooney Street, concrete lids and rings, man holes and benching for sewerage system and concrete taxi ways at Townsville Airport. As David was a qualified Solid Plasterer by Trade, he also carried out plastering to State Works Offices in Bolam Street, moulding and restoring Charters Towers Stock Exchange for the National Trust. The mainstay of the business was in the building industry, constructing commercial and residential house slabs, driveways etc. As P.O.D.'s business name and reputation was well know in the Townsville area, it was decided to retain the name of P.O.D.'s.
