The original Oakey Dokeys was a "pack away" setting, sharing the village hall with the post office, village groups and social gatherings. As the pre-school became busier it was obvious that they needed their own premises. The Oakey Dokeys Committee, led at the time by Viki Sage, worked tirelessly to raise awareness, support and funding for a new premises. They were fully supported by the village primary school, All Saints, Great Oakley and were given permission to lease part of the school field to put a pre-school building on. An application to the Big Lottery was made and Oakey Dokeys was awarded £100k, which funded the installation of the modular building n 2010, and continues to be Oakey Dokey's current home... Oakey Dokeys began in 2004 in Great Oakley Village Hall, set up by a brilliant early years team headed by Hayley Forrest and Andree Race.
