Our leadership was recognised in 2013 when we were awarded our Royal Charter, becoming the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM - pronounced "sy-eem"). That same year we launched our first ever Competency Framework for the profession, which has become the benchmark for practice standards and membership progression... CIEEM (cy-eem) is the leading professional body for ecologists and environmental managers working to protect and enhance nature for the benefit of society. We were formed in 1991, were awarded a Royal Charter in 2013 and became a registered charity in 2020. Our members are professional practitioners from across the public, private, charity, industry and academic sectors... The Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management promotes the highest standards of practice for the benefit of nature and society CIEEM is the leading professional membership body for ecologists and environmental managers in the UK and Ireland.
