He holds a master's degree in Databases from The Bucharest University of Economic Studies. Prior to joining CEFA, Alex worked as an economist and he also participated in several freelance IT projects for clients from United States, Europe and Australia.

John Cole Scott, a previous guest about a year ago, provides an update on Closed End Funds and discusses Business Development Companies (BDC's). Daniel Silver

Dan handles portfolio management, research, and trading activities for CEFA. He received his B.A. in Business Administration from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst ("CFA") designation. Prior to joining CEFA, he was a portfolio manager for Zoso Capital, and previously worked for investment banks UBS, Morgan Stanley, and SunTrust performing investment research and was a senior analyst at George Weiss Multi-Strategy Advisers.

David W. Carter

David joined CEFA in 2016 and serves as General Counsel and assists in Compliance and Operations for the firm . Prior to joining CEF Advisors, David practiced law for more than ten years during which time his practice primarily focused on bankruptcy (representing secured creditors), creditor's rights, collections, and real estate. He is currently licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia as well as the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia. He is a past Secretary of the Virginia Creditor's Bar Association as well as a former member of the Lewis F. Powell, Jr. American Inn of Court. He currently serves on the Alumni Board of Trustees for the Virginia Commonwealth University Chapter of the Delta Chi Fraternity (of which he was a founding father) and served on the Supreme Court of Virginia's Pandemic Flu Preparedness Commission. Prior to attending law school, David worked in the advertising department of Circuit City Stores, Inc. as a graphic artist and also experienced stints in radio broadcasting and sales. David graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.S. in Mass Communications and earned his law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law.

George Cole Scott, III - President

George Scott is President of Closed-End Fund Advisors, a global investment firm which concentrates its investments in closed-end funds. He has been president since 1996 and is a graduate of the University of Washington. George has been in the investment management business since 1969 and has specialized in using closed-end funds for clients since the mid-1980's. They became his specialty after joining the Board of Directors of the award-winning closed-end fund, Bergstrom Capital. Because of his expertise, he has also advised several funds as a consultant, both domestically and abroad. He is the former editor of The Scott Letter: Closed-End Fund Report. Since May 2001, George has been Editor-In-Chief of The Scott Letter Online. In 1991, he co-authored the 500-page book Investing In Closed-End Funds: Finding Value and Building Wealth. The book may be available at Amazon.com, and many public and university libraries. George was on the closed-end fund committee of the Investment Company Institute, the trade association for the open-end and closed-end fund industry. He has been a long-standing member of the Richmond Society of Financial Analysts (now CFA Virginia) and is widely quoted in such publications as The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Financial Times, Kiplinger Letters, Mutual Fund Magazine, and Money as well as many metropolitan newspapers. He has published articles on closed-end funds in both Barron's and Pensions & Investments. George has also been interviewed by various televised investment programs and presented at numerous investment conferences. As a value investor, George sees closed-end funds as the best way to take advantage of inefficiencies in the global stock market.
