Susan C. Hounsell

Susan Hounsell has more than 20 years of experience practicing law in St. John's. She completed her Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of New Brunswick in 1994 and was called to the Bar of Newfoundland and Labrador in April 1995. Since that time, Susan has been practicing Law with Toby McDonald. Susan's practice is concentrated on family law, corporate law, wills and estate planning, personal injury and real estate. Susan has served on the Board of Directors, as well as on various Committees, of Seniors NL (formerly Seniors Resource Centre) for over 15 years and has received a Board of Directors Award for her commitment and volunteer work. She is also actively involved in the Gower Community Band and is a dedicated volunteer with her children's schools and their extra-curricular organizations.

Tobias F. McDonald

Toby McDonald obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of New Brunswick in 1975 and has been practicing law in St. John's since his call to the Bar in Newfoundland the subsequent year. He is a Queen's Counsel and a recipient of the Law Society's Gordon M. Stirling Distinguished Service Award. He is invested in the Order of Newfoundland and has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws Degree by Memorial University. He is a former Director of the Law Society. Although Toby's practice has been quite diverse over the years, he currently focuses primarily on real estate, estate planning and probate/administration of estates. Throughout his legal career, Toby has also been an enthusiastic community volunteer, particularly in youth oriented organizations. Outside of his legal career he is a curler/coach and was past winner of the 1976 "Brier", the 2012 Canadian Masters, the 2006 Olympics (Coach - Team Gushue) and the 2011 National University Curling Championship (Coach MUN).
