Carl C. Lang primarily focuses on real estate development and is intimately involved in public/private partnerships relating to Affordable Housing. Carl's practice is national in scope having successfully closed transactions in nearly 30 states, many involving multiple sources of financing, including public and private debt and equity. By integrating his real estate, finance and tax expertise, Carl has assisted developers in utilizing Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Historic Tax Credits and New Market Tax Credits in many large new construction and rehabilitation projects. Additionally, Carl has extensive experience with all areas of financing involving the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, Tax Exempt Bond Financing, Hope VI Financing, Mixed Finance, Senior Housing and state and local housing programs. Jeffrey B. Hunt

Jeff Hunt is a member of the Firm's Litigation Practice Group and has practiced law for 34 years in the St. Louis area. Jeff's practice includes complex and general commercial and real estate litigation. Jeff's representation of both large and small companies has involved shareholder disputes, fraud claims, appointment of a receiver and breach of fiduciary duty claims. His experience includes such varying matters as zoning appeals, products liability defense, insurance coverage claims, maritime issues, trademark infringement, and non-competition agreements. Additionally, Jeff has acted as insured's counsel in numerous trials, including defending engineers and architects, physicians, health care providers and hospitals and attorneys against liability claims. Jeff acted as national litigation counsel for a products manufacturer in a multi-state and multi-district insurance subrogation case. Jeff has also obtained verdicts for companies in trademark infringement disputes. Prior to practicing law, Jeff was a disc jockey and broadcast journalist for several radio stations in the West Virginia-Ohio-Kentucky region. His experience includes marketing, advertising, and public relations for private businesses and public entities. Jeff has taught research and writing and pretrial practice at Washington University in St. Louis. Michael A. Markenson - Shareholder

Michael Markenson joined the firm in 1977 and serves on the firm's management committee. His practice focuses on real estate development, credits and finance, with emphasis on organization, syndication, taxation, real estate acquisition and financing. He primarily represents owners and developers of residential and commercial properties, including for-profit and not-for-profit developers that utilize federal and state tax incentives. Mr. Markenson is involved primarily with debt and equity financing, structuring the choice of entity, federal and state tax credits, security law and real property issues. He reviews and negotiates limited partnership agreements with national syndicators and equity providers, and has been involved in affordable housing and rehabilitation transactions from New York to California. However, Mr. Markenson has specialized in State of Missouri tax incentives, including the Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit, the Brownfield Tax Credit, Affordable Housing Assistance Program Tax Credit and other Missouri credits.

Roger Herman is a Member of the Firm's Real Estate Practice Group and a Member of the Firm's Management Committee. His practice focuses primarily on commercial real estate transactions. He also has substantial experience in General Business Law. Roger has assisted clients in all aspects of real estate transactions, including leasing, purchase and sale, development, financing, lending and entity formation. Theresa Phelps is a member of the Firm's Litigation and Labor and Employment Practice Groups and a member of the Firm's Management Committee. Theresa joined the firm in 2009. Before joining the firm, Theresa was a litigation attorney for Schmiedeskamp, Robertson, Neu & Mitchell, LLP and also for Lewis, Rice & Fingersh, L.C. Theresa practices in all areas of general civil and appellate litigation, with an emphasis in commercial litigation and employment law. In addition to her litigation practice, Theresa routinely counsels and assists clients with day-to-day human resources and employment matters, implementation and review of policies and procedures, and drafting of employment-related agreements and documents. In addition to litigating claims at the trial and appellate court levels in various state and federal courts, Theresa has also represented clients before various administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Missouri Commission on Human Rights, the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, and the Illinois Department of Human Rights.
