Biography
Brian received his J.D. from Washburn University School of Law in 2010 graduating with Dean's Honors and with certificates in business and transactional law (with distinction) and natural resources law.
Prior to joining Ascent Law LLC, Brian ran his own practice. He focused primarily on helping clients create estate plans as well as navigating the complexities of probate, criminal, and family law cases. He has also experience in conducting mineral title examination of federal, state, fee and tribal lands.
In his spare time, Brian enjoys golfing, football, basketball and spending time with his wife and three children.

Biography
Attorney Joann Shields specializes in business incorporation and class actions as well as other complex business litigation, including in the areas of consumer protection, contract, tort, partnership, employment, and real property disputes. She began her career by clerking for United States Federal Judge David Sam. Ms. Shields has worked as in-house and outside counsel for several corporate clients. She has served as President of the Corporate Law Section of the Utah State Bar and currently serves on the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Committee. Ms. Shields has also been an officer of the Alden J. Anderson American Inn of Court. She enjoys the fine arts, travel, and teaching.

Attorney Michael J. Reed is an accomplished and compassionate lawyer licensed in the State of Utah. Attorney Reed grew up in Idaho, where he spent summers working on his grandfather's farm. During this time, he was instilled with the value of hard work, something he still draws on to this day. In his practice, Attorney Reed leaves no stone unturned in his pursuit of legal solutions for his clients. He works directly with those he serves, providing honest, reliable, and clear communication to help ensure that they fully understand their legal rights and options.
