PETROSS helped transform sugarcane and sweet sorghum to naturally produce large amounts of bio-oil, a sustainable source of biofuel. In 2012, PETROSS began an ambitious journey to transform sugarcane and sweet sorghum to naturally produce more bioenergy per acre than any other crop. With critical support from the Advanced Projects Research Agency-Energy (ARPA-E), PETROSS created bigger, more productive (and profitable) biofuel crops - a sustainable source of biofuel, particularly biodiesel and bio-jet fuel. With critical support from ARPA-E, PETROSS began the journey to create inexhaustible and sustainable wells of oil sprouting in economically depressed rural areas.
