Dr Matt Oliver

Matt is a qualified Consultant in Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine and is an Associate Professor of Health Systems Research Matt's principal interests are improving preparation for, processes of care around, and outcomes after major surgery. Matt has been with The Iron Clinic for 5 years and an expert in iron deficiency management. Matt provides a wealth of experience and first hand knowledge coupled with a breadth of experience in chronic disease.

Dr Rao Baikady

Dr Rao Baikady is a Consultant in Anaesthesia, at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK. He initiated the Royal Marsden anaemia management program with intravenous iron infusion, blood conservation strategies and education for health professionals. He has over a decade of experience in intravenous iron use and a world leading expert and advisor on iron infusions.He developed ‘The Marsden Protocol', enabling a one stop full treatment dose of iron for patients in one sitting, that has become adopted internationally. Dr. Rao Baikady actively promotes evidence based practices on anaemia and haemorrhage management. He is a key opinion leader on anaemia management in major surgery and has probably overseen more intravenous iron infusions in this setting than most in the UK. His research projects include peri-operative anaemia management, cardio pulmonary exercise testing and evidence based management of major haemorrhage.

Dr Sue Pavord

Dr Sue Pavord is a consultant Haematologist and the incoming President of the British Society of Haematology. Dr Sue Pavord is a Consultant Haematologist at Oxford University Hospitals and is an Associate Senior Lecturer at St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford. She has over 25 years' experience in clinical and laboratory haematology. Her specialist areas of interest are anaemia and iron management, immune haematology, inherited and acquired bleeding disorders, thrombosis and anticoagulation, thrombosis prevention and obstetric haematology. She leads a national group to drive the UK agenda on anaemia management, emphasising the importance of correcting preoperative anaemia to improve patient outcomes in pregnancy She is a pioneer in the field of Obstetric Haematology and co-founded the British Society for Haematology Obstetric Haematology Group in 2004, highlighting the importance of specialised input in the management of pregnant patients with haematological conditions. She produced the national guidelines on anaemia in pregnancy and inherited bleeding disorders in pregnancy. She runs an international course in the field and is in demand as a national and international speaker.

Dr Susan Jain

Dr Jain is a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine at the Homerton University Hospital. Dr Jain has been with The Iron Clinic for two years and seen hundreds of patients. She has a regular Thursday consultation and Friday infusion clinic. She brings experience in the management of complex medical patients balanced with experience as mother of two. She has a specific interest in the management of hair-loss associated with iron deficiency with connections and collaborations to hairdressers and trichologists for a holistic ongoing care of women affected by iron deficiency hair-loss (that is very common!) Susan has perfected her approach and her ethos builds on understanding the concerns of the individual and designing an achievable solution

Ellie O'Keefe

Ellie has joined us as The Iron Clinic manager in 202. She has worked for eight years as an assistant nurse (HCA) in a GP and private practice. Ellie has a breadth of experience and sympathetic to the plights of people suffering from iron deficiency and the troubles people have experienced in getting recognised and treated. Ellie is also undertaking a degree in nutrition. Ellie is responsible for the day to day running of the clinic and also assists in the administration and management ofiron infusions.

Leeann Cross

Leeann is a highly experienced Registered Nurse with a Bachelor's degree from Dundee University, who brings over two decades of expertise to the healthcare industry from working across Scotland, London and Australia. In the UK, she has worked across both the NHS and the private sector at several hospitals and private clinics such as Guy's & St Thomas', St Bartholomew's, The Royal Free, The Royal Marsden, The London Clinic and HCA Healthcare. Since January 2018, Leeann has held the role of lead Nurse Practitioner at The Iron Clinic and has administered more than 3000 iron infusions. Leeann's commitment to upholding high standards of care and prioritising patient safety is evident in every aspect of her practice. To stay at the forefront of the latest medical developments, she actively attends local and international conferences, focusing on haematological and bleeding issues related to iron deficiency in a variety of specialties. Leeann holds a keen interest in women's health, particularly within the realm of IVF fertility. In an environment where trust and integrity are paramount, Leeann distinguishes herself by providing authentic, patient-centred care. Her commitment to excellence ensures a steadfast and compassionate approach to each individual patient's well-being. Mr Toby Richards

Mr Toby Richards is a Professor of Surgery. He has pioneered awareness and treatment of iron deficiency and anaemia management. He is specialist in intravenous iron therapy for over a decade and has overseen more than 3000 infusions at The Iron Clinic. His is a practicing surgeon and leads clinical research into how iron therapy can improve mental and physical health for patients. He has embedded clinical research and development into all areas of practice. Prof Richards has numerous publications on anaemia management with broad reaching impact including national guidelines from the department of Health, NHS Blood and Transplant, AAGBI, British Society for Haematology. He is a regular speaker at national and international conferences to promote anaemia management and intravenous iron therapy. Prof. Richards leads several clinical trials on intravenous iron therapy both in the UK and Australia focusing on patient welfare, fatigue and quality of life including specific trials in women's health.
